As depressing as it is that the TV show will end before the books do you think now the books will be vastly different than the TV show just for differentiation purposes?

I have never watched the books or read the show. I have all 5 books though just haven't started reading them. Should I read the books first or watch the show?

:pachaha:

Not sure about the best answer though, the books have way more detail but reading them first will make you get mad about what they've done with some storylines, especially in the later seasons. Then again, there is a drop in quality in the later seasons anyway. At least the story will get finished on the show :ehh:

Watch the show. The books are bloated and are incomplete. The show starts strong, and even though it's largely "meh" these days some episodes still shine. Most importantly it will have an ending.

It's quite obvious he doesn't care anymore. Most likely he made the story too complicated and doesn't really know/cares how to finish it properly. You can see it on the show, he gave them the great lines of the ending and they obviously have no idea how to get there while keeping the quality of the show on the same level. Most likely he has the same problem with the books and would rather die without finishing then tarnish his legacy with cutting corners:yeshrug:

The show has already diverged from the path the books were on so it's a guarantee that TWOW won't be anything like seasons 6 or 7.

On top of that, George did some petty shyt and said he came up with a huge twist in the upcoming books for a character the show had already killed off. As such, this new storyline is going to move the show and the books even farther away from each other. And the rumor is that rewriting the story to accommodate for this twist is part of the reason for the Winds of Winter delay

How is that petty though? It's his story :yeshrug:

George has seemed a bit :picard: at the direction the show has gone, it might have inspired him creatively to change some shyt. I don't think he would do it JUST to change shyt up, this is the guy who's given us a whole bunch of Sam chapters I think he does what he wants.

How involved were you in the final season ofGame of Thrones? Are you mostly keeping focus on [The Winds of Winter]?

Yeah, I've been in isolation. My loyal staff — I have a couple of them with me — have chained me to the typewriter. They're making me eat healthy food. (Laughs.) It's horrible!
Never thought we were getting a dream of spring. :mjcry: just accepted the fact that we probably ain't getting winds neither.

I hope we can get winds by the end of this year or 2020 at least. I’ve also given up on dream ever coming out, but hey if I’m like 30 years old and I hear he somehow finally finished, I’ll still cop a copy :ehh:
