first of all, I wouldnt really look at seattle when talking about receivers. they had like 1 100 yard receiver all year against them and that was andre johnson
had like 3 last year and it was marshall, titus young (lol, mustve quadruple covered megatron), stevie johnson in 50-17 blowout and welker
boldin actually came close this year the 2nd game of the season
if theres any pattern its big guys (besides welker)
seattle is just really good at coverage
you cant look at getting a young receiver that can beat seattles secondary because then you'll be looking forever
another thing this staff sucks at evaluating wr's, and even if they don't, how do you expect to groom receivers when your offense is very conservative ? boldin and crabs is as good as they come, but our #3 WR had less snaps than our #2 TE and our #4 WR is basically inactive with a ST player taking his spot
couple that with VD, and our playcalling (either because of romans tendencies or to cater to kaep, I dont know) more of a 'create space for main routes' than 'choose your routes' and Im not sure its a good environment for raising a WR
you saw how off patton the hags were playing on the final play of the game ? no one will respect other receivers game until they prove something, but they cant prove anything if we're running jumbo formations and 2TE ests. and I love run game and have nothing against run-based formations and gameplan, but theres really no need to keep stockpiling WRs thinking it will help then, if they arent finna get utilized. zero point to get as many WRs as denver if we arent passing it. Id look for more steady blocking but most of oline is staying here anyway. lattimore is someone to look forward too
people really think we finna get this speedy guy and offense will resolve itself. no, it won't. until harbs is here it will be a run-first team. as such, if you want speed, you get a ginn like specialist for cheap. you're wasting money otherwise
