I’m a progressive l, but I’m highly skeptical that you can win over the white working class via economic policies.

It’s not their main concern otherwise they wouldn’t be voting for Republicans who literally have no policies to help them. The top campaign issue for Trump this year was kicking out immigrants. Their hatred for immigrants is not driven by economic concerns.

Look no further than old seniors. The GOP is constantly trying to cut their benefits and Dems try to strengthen their benefits, but they vote 60% Republican. :heh:

It’s a fools errand to think you can win them over. Pass progressive policies on merit and to attract other groups. Don’t do it to win over white working class voters.

Let’s never forget these is the same class of people who voted for usher in their own economic destruction with Reagan.
Immigration is partly economics to the working class. They see helping immigrants as a waste of their tax dollars

Waste of tax dollars is the least of their concerns.

Bringing undocumented people suppresses wages.

While true, this is not why they hate immigrants.

Throughout this long campaign season with Trump shutting on immigrants on an almost daily basis, I never heard him mention wages once.

It’s not “economic anxiety” that drives working class whites to be so hateful of other groups.

Obama got a large portion of those voters in 2008 and 2012.

Those voters were also willing to support Bernie in ‘16 and ‘20.

I don’t believe the white working class is full of hate-filled people who would rather support hate over improving their own living conditions. It’s the convenient thing Democrats and Democrat supporters tell themselves because they don’t want their votes and have their own prejudices.

One of these days your buddy will connect the dots.

Economic anxiety is the formation they can run any play out of and use it as their excuse.

People been screaming for class unification for decades. They’ve rejected it for decades and it’s not because of the incompetent, evil dem boogeyman hiding under the bed.

Calling everyone racist will just push more people Trump.

Where is the criticism of the black pundits, black DNC operatives who take our money and do nothing for us?

He doesn’t have to say it - it’s already assumed and embedded. Almost every single working class person working manual jobs feels like undocumented workers are depressing their wages. (Of all races.) Even if they’re wrong - go listen to Trump voters on immigration - it’s a blend of culture, resentment about tax dollars, and economic resentment. Losing working class white voters is different than getting blown the fukk out. A good portion are racist and I’m old enough to remember canvassing for Obama in 08 having white friends appalled when a dude in PA said behind my back that they’d be voting for the “n1gger” because he was better for the economy after it was in free fall.

But the bigger issue with you repeating this line ad nauseum is that you’re effectively saying that Democrats can’t win elections. You’re not winning elections getting blown out with working class people.

That criticism can be found in the areas where they are the topic of concern. And im sure some people like our buddy will have plenty of criticism for them like he always does.

And we aren’t calling everyone racist. Some people are blatant. Others are subconscious. I mentioned that the GOP does a good job on playing into the subconscious tendencies of the working class to make them consistently vote against their best interest. Where is the criticism of white pundits and white GOP operatives who take the working class money and do nothing for them?

But, overall hit dogs will holler. Stop asking them to play with you at recess, they don’t want to.

White folks are the most susceptible people on the planet. We should be better than that. It's not good enough to say racism was the primary reason, unless it's everyone against black folks. Black people are part of the working class. Are they a part of the MSNBC DNC cocktail complex? It's time many middle-class black people started being honest about what this country is.

You can't use racism as a crutch for losing elections and then go back to being a customer of Amazon, McDonalds and Starbucks, or messing around and having kids with white folks. If people claim that Biden was punished for centring black women, then they need to accept responsibility for this loss before any discussion about class reductionism is had. What is the point of being the black party if we keep losing to orange Jesus?

Who is saying it’s the primary reason?

Nobody is using it as a crutch. If we can’t talk about the impact race and sex has in our society then we aren’t having honest or serious conversations.

They lost for a shyt load of reasons. The above just so happen to be some of the main ones and were utilized directly and indirectly by the GOP as they have been doing for years to get people to vote against their better interest.

The dems should focus on their actual base and if the white working class wants to recognize that they would benefit also they are free to join too.

I’ll leave it to our buddy to spend his time and energy focusing on the dems and completely absolving the GOP from any role in why things are the way they are.

Question- who is the democratic base right now aside from black people? Serious question.

No is absolving Republicans btw - but what the fukk am I supposed to do about them? 94 percent of Republicans voted Trump and always will. My entire point the entire election was to stop trying to reach them and try to turn out unlikely voters who are susceptible to democratic messages. To an extent, we lost because Trump turned out people susceptible to Republicans messages and Dems didn’t the opposite. My focus on working class issues is because of the shift of people of color to the GOP. Now it’s possible that you never get Obama margins among white working class voters again but you’re not hurt by pushing an economic message when most of the non-white people you need are working class too.

I want to win - and I want what’s best for people - I’m literally saying Democrats should stop catering people like me. :russ:.

We are being honest about race. But if your point one finger out and three come back at you. Of course the GOP is horrible. That is a lost cause. It doesn't have to be class reductionism, but only black and jewish people had an issue with the way the country is. Everyone else prefers Trump. The multiracial coalition is dead and unless some honesty by all sectors is taken into account, we will be back here again in 2 years.

Again, if the country is racist and we know this Biden should have been removed. He was. Blaming Bernie or anyone else at this point is cope. Sure we can blame class politics, but engage in machine politics and get machine results.
