90s kids what was it like transitioning from 2-d to 3-d games?

To me, it was fukking great. shyt, it's still fukking great how far we've come from 2-D graphics to 3-D.

First 3d game I remember was Tekken. We would play it at the arcades all the time, it was great. But one of the greatest feelings I ever had is when we got the PS1. It came with a demo of a bunch of games, and I remember being completely blown away by the graphics.

There aren't any words that can truly describe what I felt that day.


Then Mario 64 came out, shyt was.......


The last time I had that feeling is when the Dreamcast came out.

growing up playing platformers the transition from Super Mario World to Super Mario 64 was pretty gradual. I knew how much of a big deal it was, but it was Mario so it felt right. But Zelda OOT on the other hand had a young nikka . That was one of the few games that scared me from beginning to end but I loved that game.
It also helped to have an analog stick on the controller from giddyup

it didnt hit you until goldeneye with the shooters ... so much fukkery and hurt feelings

mario was cool and the shyt first but the shooters where you could aim was like

Didnt much notice it shyt was coppy and ugly. I was more impressed with cutscences and open world games. Having the ability to move 360 degrees/save anywhere/decision based gaming >>>>>>>> graphics until Dreamcast dropped Then the gods blessed us ps2 and Xbox It was like playing Shrek.

yeah shyt wasn't that big of a deal to me. like others said, dreamcast was the first time i was . when that killer whale jumped over me for the first time in that sonic demo.

It was dope, I was at my homie's house and he couldn't stop talking about how real everything looked on his HDTV and I'll admit, I was doubtful.
But he put on one of the WWE SD vs. RAW games and the water droplets on Triple H's face when he pours the water from his water bottle at the entrance looked real as fukk.

I legit had a mixture of all at the same time.
