Have you been vocal about the fights HBO has been putting on this year? If you haven't and found ward-brand palatable then it's whatever . If you have and for some reason condone THIS fight then you're playing yourself. The card the other week that was on HBO latino with Diaz and Orozco was way better and should have got the spot ward-brand got instead of being buried on there.

But really who the fukk cares about him fighting Brand as a tuneup?

I just don't understand knowing Ward vs Kovalev coming up in November how you can complain about a fukking tune up in August?
They will deliver the best fight possible in this sport, which is so rare...
but you still complaining about irrelevant thing like who the fukk he beats 4 months prior?
We should be thankful that they will really deliver this fight for us in November.

I will take fights like Lemiuex vs Tapia or Gabe Rosado vs whoever 10x over crap like this.

Ward is an A+ fighter and arguably GOAT SMW but 2008-2012 is a distant memory and yes some of the opponents retired and he had the layoff but this was the equivalent of seeing DeNiro in Rocky and Bullwinkle or Dirty Grandpa.....beneath his talent and just collecting a check.

Context is everything.

If he would have fought this guy just in regular I would have problem with it eve though I'd probably STILL get that they tried to organise two solid opponents but they couldn't and they left out in the cold with this guy.

But knowing that Ward vs Kovalev is coming up November, I doN't fukking care that he fought this guy in November cause I know he didn't do it to cherry pick, duck, or etc...

All of the boxing fans should praise both Kovalev (who I don't really like otherwise) and Ward for making this fight. This big fights are extremely rare, these guys will do it.

But Ward still catches heat because of an irrelevant, nothing tune up?

what fight? ward-kovalev? now that i dont agree with..a little shine has been taken off it but its a big fight that is PPV worthy..hopefully the building of its card and the promotion improve 200% since ward and kovalev didn't feel like doing the other night....i prefer to see stevenson-kovalev more as that fight would truly show who is number 1 at 175 but unfortunately the "business" reared its head

what fight? ward-kovalev? now that i dont agree with..a little shine has been taken off it but its a big fight that is PPV worthy..hopefully the building of its card and the promotion improve 200% since ward and kovalev didn't feel like doing the other night....i prefer to see stevenson-kovalev more as that fight would truly show who is number 1 at 175 but unfortunately the "business" reared its head

It is PPV 100% as far as substance and quality but damn the shine and buzz is down something serious....that can fight last night killed me.

They better have a red carpet treatment all over NBA, baseball playoffs, college gameday, NFL (maybe Ward can be in the booth for a game or a drop in visit). This just sucked last night. This ain't Cotto or Canelo who could show up on Univision or Telemundo or a parade. This fight reeks of no buzz.

Im pretty sure real SOG fans enjoyed the fight thoroughly simply cuz we dont see him fight like that. Hell he coulda fought me and id watch. I love boxing ill watch 2 amateur bums on broadway boxing if im in the mood. Yeah but that fight wasn't confirmed. Like Kovalev vs Ward is. They have signed contracts. I'm sure everyone would have been more okay with those two matchups if after that they really fought each other but sadly it didn't happen so we just saw Canelo defending first time as a middleweight champion against a welterweight then moves down one. In that case people just hoped that Canelo will fight Golovkin after... but oh well...

Still have hope in me that after he will get the IBF title from BJS he stops fukking around and really fight Golovkin cause otherwise I like Canelo's fighting and I doN't want to completely throw him in the bushes. I doN't even like GGG but that was a duck...

People are happy about these tuneups for what happens if Ward have got injured versus that tomato can last night? What if he popped his shoulder out of socket or tore his Achilles tendon obviously injuries can happen anytime but the risk against the fighter of that caliber who may be because he was out of the fight go for a dirty trick and got Ward seriously hurt. That's why you have to make the fight when they are available to make them.

What if Canelo in the fall suffers a serious injury like breaking his hand or something and he's out for 8 to 10 months? Against Liam Smith? Remember Gamboa vs Lopez and what happened there?!?

Fans need to stop acting like promoters and defending things like this.
