And the original fight plan was Andre Ward vs Erik Skoglund until he backed out, and Brand accepted to fight a little over 4 weeks notice.
Russell vs Hyland was just as big of a mismatch, main evented it's own card (they didn't upgrade Russell's opponent), and you didn't complain about it, bc you like GRJ....so you should expect the same of fans of SOG
was there criticism of russell-hyland on here though? im sure you know the answer to that one

Getting blessed with an opportunity to watch SOG exhibit GAWD tier boxing abilities on a slow Saturday night was great for me...however, YOU watched the fight just as I did, which means you contributed to the ratings just as I did, but yet you're mad about supporting it while I'mabout watching another SOG dominant performance against another Top 10 opponent

Maybe that's just where you and I differ as fans but if you're going to put trash matchups in front of me I don't care if it's PBC Top Rank Golden Boy Roc Nation DiBella, Franke Warren, Eddie Hearn, a bad fight is a bad fight.
And everyone aint A-list you can make dope fights with Gamboa, Kirkland, Rios when he's in shape, Vargas, Sadam Ali, Rosado, Lee , Lemiuex etc this was pitiful.

I never expect stans of the fighter in the mismatch to be appalled at the matchup.
You aren't angry about your Middleweight facing a Welterweight next, I wasn't upset with AB vs Theophane, etc.
HBO has been trash all year long, we all know this...doesn't mean I'm not going to watch Anthony Joshua vs another bum though bc his talents intrigue me

Who would be willing to face Andre Ward who's been in training camp all this time, on a little more than a month's notice, for short money?
So again, complaining is just that....complaining. However, there were was no one else available & no one else who came out afterwards saying they would've fought SOG for the $30k HBO was offering outside of Sullivan Barrera...and we've known this for a while now, so complaining about the matchup itself, not the actual fight but the matchup, is

I do think he could have finished it by 10th but he didnt stun Brand until the end of the round. Once the 11th round came I was like "Why risk it?
"And tot he cat in here talking about the possibility of him getting cut or something. Two things:
1. It's part of the game. If it would have happened then we probably wait until February of next year for the fight. But they would still fight.
2. There was a bigger chance of Eurodemon getting cut vs Chilemba than SOG getting cut by Brand. Why no one has mentioned that is beyond me.

I don't care how they backed out, why they backed out of whatever reason they backed out this opponent was absolute unequivocal trash and had no business being in the ring with Andre Ward. When BSJ, Canelo and other MW's don't fight Triple G and he fights the Dominic Wade's and Monroe Jr's of the world he gets flack....as should Ward vs this extra from Narcos.
It's okay to admit that you're hero fought a trash opponent last night you're not less of a fan because of it. Fans like you get us Garcia vs Rod Salka. And then cheer the KO
Are you on Andre Ward's payroll, do you train with him, you have some sort of financial vested interest in the fight? HBO paid for a straight mismatch. Like I said, Berto/Zavek status.
Dude is obviously far away the best fighter on the planet but his opponent was unworthy of being his sparring partner.
