I don't know why you all act as if the majority of black people are just sitting at home safely. We make up a large proportion of "essential workers" out here everyday facing the virus head on. Many white people don't even care about those news stories saying we are disproportionately affected, and many others don't even believe the data and just look at it as liberal race baiting. They are seeing Capitalism crumbling around them and since that is their only known method of survival they will die for it, ironically. The Governors are looking at the financial aspect of it; no sales tax revenue, dwindling unemployment money, and no forthcoming Federal bailout leaves them with no choice.

For Texas, this is 100% the case. Texas is a white state, they usually don't have a lot of white unemployment. The system is trash, it's impacting cacs which the recession didn't even impact them that bad so Texas is in a pickle.
