This exactly what I was telling people. A Crawford Boots fight don't really make any sense as a next fight for either. It's more than just fan fantasy matchups that go into these. PBC not gonna wanna potentially stall Boots ascension by throwing him in there with the toughest challenge too early before really having him tested against better competition and building his start power. And for Bud, who's on the backend of his career, that's really not big money fight like he should be chasing now to close out his career. High risk, low reward.
The Charlo fight was a perfect scenario for Bud if not for the Canelo situation; Natural bad blood, weight class he was looking to transition too, high profile opponent. Curious now to see what the next move will be for Crawford. Spence rematch may be the biggest option out even if I don't think it'll be much of a challenge and perhaps Spence need to sit his ass down for a minute.
dudes don't get match making lol. I'm not against Boots fighting Bud right now at all, but Bud right now is trying to seal his legacy and Boots does nothing for it.
From a match maker standpoint it makes sense to
1.Bud moves to 154, fights Tim which brings in the Aussie crowd (maybe even do the fight there on some Street fighter takeover shyt)
2.The leaves both Mel and Bud open for Spring, as regardless of the Canelo fight step aside shouldn't be an issue.
3.Boots is elevated, and I assume Dude who was gonna fight Ortiz can be elevated to WBA and have Boots vs him to Unify 147 (WBA + IBF)
4.Assuming Boots wins he could fight Thurman/Ugas winner to Unify WBC (unless they don't fukk over Cody Crowley).
5. Bud/Charlo Winner defends 154 undisputed 1 more time in fall.
6. If Boots takes care of business and assuming Charlo is out the picture you now have a 2025 big fight of Boots vs Bud at 154 and probably Buds last match. By then Boots would be established as that guy.
The only reason you put Boots in now is if you want to do the fight at discount + do it in Omaha.
