Damn this thread went crazy the last couple days.
My two cents:
Crawford has some weaknesses in that he can get caught easier early and his bravado may just get him into trouble some day in the ring, but I think we are watching a fighter mature into an elite talent. He isn't quite the pure technician like a Ward, but he balances that with a refusal to let up and a mean spirit.
In the debate above, I think Crawford beats Broner, and I think he does it by outboxing him. I used to think Broner was going to be an elite boxer, but I don't believe that anymore. His footwork and inactivity to a fault hinder him IMO. I think Crawford is far more dynamic than Broner, and can beat him in any fashion. Crawford's resume has been questioned, but Broner hasn't fought anyone with the boxing skills of Crawford. Sure we can argue that Porter and Maidana are better opponents than Crawford's (which they are), but they are brawlers/punchers. If you are a boxer who can withstand what a brawler does, you should nearly always beat a brawler (and Broner lost two close fights). The best boxer Broner has faced may have been Malignaggi, who actually touched Broner up a lot, problem was Paulie has no power or defense. To me Broner is hittable. Guys of lesser talent have found Broner hittable. Crawford beats Broner by D12.
I would love to see Crawford vs. Garcia, one because it is a good matchup, but also because I believe Garcia's L is coming and he has been helped a couple times. Garcia struggles with people who can move and box. I had Peterson beating Garcia decisively the second half of their fight, by outboxing Danny, and he would have won the fight had he not run the first half. I have never wanted to see Garcia vs. Mayweather because I think Mayweather dominates Garcia in an 11-1 fashion. To me, Garcia will struggle with elite boxers because he doesn't have elite handspeed or footspeed. He is best suited to fight guys who aren't pure boxers that he can keep in front of him, use his timing, and when needed his chin to bail him out. I pick Crawford by D12 over Garcia.
