I think a lot of people resent Jay White because of his push more than his talent as a wrestler. I think the vast majority admits he's a good worker, just not one that should be pushed as a 1B champ and be the top gaijin in the company right now. He's like HHH in 99' or Orton, were his push is so hated that a lot of fans tend to focus only on his flaws to shyt on said push and him.
The Goto thing I think it has to do with years of resentment of him never getting a real push nor a legit shot as a main eventer. I agree that nowadays he shouldn't be at the top but every time someone sees a good/great match of his you are reminded of "shyt, this guy got fukkED by booking didn't he?".
To me, the time to give Goto a shot was from 07' to 11' - before Okada showed up, basically -, at this point he should be either freelancing or just invading other companies and being a top guy there (what MiSu and Kensuke Sasaki did).
I think stro was talking about Goto having NOTHING going on though, like no feud, angle, storyline. But I don't follow NJ that closely to know if I'm way off on that.
He has the Stardust Press (a Phoenix Splash type move) but people believed the bullshyt that him using it meant going back to his old gimmick so he couldn't win matches with that move either![]()
In all seriousness, my guess is he stopped doing it because it probably fukked his knees (or other body part) up. It is weird he never came up with another finisher though.
Lol at Goto doing a Stardust Press.
Goto gots a dope moveset...but thats it. He's generic as hell. No personality. He's like Naito (That's the guy who did the Stardust Press BTW) before he turned heel. Any sort of tease at him being elevated went over like a fart in church. That's why he's not in the main event scene. Not booking.
