We are just going to ignore that they could've pushed Juice as their top gaijin? Let's be real, Juice might not be a top star, he was consistently putting in good work and the crowd loved him. Dude was a legit babyface in a company where most faces have a mean streak or sometimes are tempted into heel tactics. I think they left some money on the table there, especially because Juice also serves as one of the ultimate FU's to WWE.

Regardless of currently being a good fan favorite, I really think he needs a strong heel run to develop his psychology and presence more.

I think the mistake started with making him the leader of bullet club they should of made Tama the leader especially with how he kind of made himself relevant last summer with the g1 fukkery the way Jay became leader was so anticlimactic . Should of led to a like nod type split with Faarooq and the rock . With jay undercutting him then boom he takes over .

Exactly. They did that HUGE angle with the OGs attacking the Elite, than like, it's okay that they didn't really do a proper feud between the two groups, but just the attack was enough to get the OGs into a big push and have it mean something, an angle with anyone notable really... Instead they just fukked around getting DQ'd in the G1 the whole time...

Jay being in Bullet Club added nothing for him, and for the OGs it just takes away shine they should be getting. Tama probably feels some type of way about that.

I'm of the belief that, when a puro company doesn't have a gaijin that is a legit star, they can live with having their top foreigner not being the main champion or being in contention all the time. So to me, top gaijin doesn't = AJ Styles/Kenny Omega spot. (other fans don't see it that way though, that why I wrote that was part of the backlash against White).

When Karl Anderson was the main foreigner, dude had some huge matches - were he did great btw, he had a low key very good run fo a couple of years - but he wasn't the 1B star of the company. He wasn't forced into that position. Jay White, nor any gaijing on the roster right now, HAVE to fill that spot right now. That's my main issue with it to be honest.

It feels like New Japan is forcing White to a spot that neither he nor NJ need at the moment. I think dude could be a legit player/star/draw for them in the near future, just fukking wait till he gets there. When Omega left (and he'll be back eventually), he didn't left a void that had to be desperately filled by JW, ZSJ, Ospray, or whoever.

So to the question "if not Jay White, who?". My answer is: right now, nobody. And that's fine. Wait till someone gets enough of a reaction that can justify that level of push. At this moment, it feels like Moxley could be a legit player for New Japan if the AEW relationship gets sorted out soon. But if that doesn't work out, then just keep waiting. Give Jay White other stuff to do instead of constantly being in contention, there are a ton of stuff dude could do to build up to a run on top that actually works. There's no need to rush anything.

BTW, I understand why Gedo did this with White. He basically tried to apply the same formula he did with Omega, which was a huge gamble Gedo made and that paid off better than anyone could've foreseen. I can see the reasoning behind doing it with a "home grown" dude like White.

Ospreay is clearly killing it with the crowd, in the ring, and you can tell Gedo is beginning to prop him up more and more. I believe Gedo sees Okada and Ospreay as his top 2 in the very near future, if not already. Once he wins the heavyweight title in a year or two, Jay should have enough experience by then to slide in as a formidable heel foreigner for him.

Ospreay is undoubtedly the top gaijin with the fans and the company right now, they are in really good shape as long as he's there.

I'm the furthest from an Ospray fan but I think he's a clear example of "doing it right". Dude got over as a highly talented flippy guy, so over that they decided to Ibushi/Omega'd him and graduate him to heavyweight. But dude is still in a transition period were he dominates Jrs but is in the middle of the pack as a heavy, which makes total sense in (puro) kayfabe.

At some point he's gonna be an official heavyweight and you are right that he's probably gonna be the main gaijin, at least on the babyface side. I'll probably still wont care about him but if dude continues to be over like he has been, he's gonna also become a draw so giving him that spot can't be hated on :manny:

Yes, but no pin or submission which in NJPW is considered "the big win". Similar to how they protect Fale every year with keeping the amount of pin fall and submission losses he takes to a minimum.
Meant to bring this up, It’s to the point where they should just start keeping him out of the G1.

You can't have Tama as a leader of a top faction when he's content being a tag wrestler. They should continue with the "Bullet Club has no leader" manta until JW developed his style. It took Juice 4 years until finding his groove. As of the OG, they're right were supposed to be. GOD is tag wrestlers, Fale is used for occasions, Chase and Yujiro are good for you multi-tag matches. BC needs a B-player in their squad. Chaos got Ishii/Goto. LIJ got EVIL/SANADA. Suzuki Gun got ZSJ. Hopefully, they get someone soon.
