Something just ain't clicking right now with these my job apps. Might need to up my skills at the moment.

Granted, I have been very picky about where I want to go to. I need a place with a strong name for exit opportunities. Also, a company with operations in Nigeria or the West African region is a plus as as well. I'm looking to make that pivot in 18-24 months so I don't want to hop just for the sake of hopping.

If you find the company let me know, I'm applying asap

Whats the consensus on job descriptions on linkedin? Im in the process of updating mine now

I took a look at some profiles of some of my connections and noticed that many (white people) only list their job titles and nothing about their job description.

Im like damn they really dont have to do shyt and get quality gigs like its nothing. Am i tripping or is this something yall have noticed too?

I feel like you don’t want to put too much information onto your LinkedIn profile. Keep it somewhat vague so you can spin the experience to the role your looking for.

You’d rather have a recruiter call you and ask you to explain your experience rather than have them see your job description and disqualify you.

Just thinking out loud here:

Got about $27,000 in a general savings/emergency fund (earning 2.20% interest). Maybe that's too much but I feel like I should have cash on hand. I get paid bi-weekly and have about an extra $300 per check. I was putting that all to my savings to build it up.

Now I'm going to start taking that $300 and splitting it up into some commission free etfs each month (I'm with Charles Schwab). And every now and then buy some individual stocks (which I've been doing already).

Thoughts?

I'm on a somewhat similar trajectory. I'm building up savings, putting at least 10% gross away each month to build my 6 month safety net. I still have disposable income and the plan is to put that into ETFs. So I'll be building both savings and investment accounts at the same time. For me, it's because I'm also trying to build a down payment for a house and I feel more comfortable having that in my savings and not in the market. I'm letting my investments become passive income rather than banking on growth.

Houston to LA like I'm Robert Horry.
Gonna look to make a lateral move within my company to the function I'm looking to explore outside. Even if I stay for two months I have no qualms about it because its all been in the same company.

On a side note I might have to start taking this big data/IT field seriously. Dudes are breaking serious bread and better yet, have a constant pick of the litter as it concerns their next role/job.

My boy's friend is a cloud computing engineer at Amazon. Doesn't even have to upload his resume. Recruiters blowing up his inbox like it's nothing.

Yes breh it's the wave right now. I'm a Data Scientist, and I get at least 3 emails/LinkedIn messages a day of companies trying to recruit me without ever showing any interest on my end. Even the big ones like Amazon and Facebook have hit me up. Great money, job security, and I can't speak for everyone but my gig is very low stress

I just need to vent because little things constantly building up is what makes you want to fukk some shyt up.

  • I'm sick of having to go through a security check every morning to get to work and low key when you leave work. Smug ass officers.
  • The speed limit goes from 40 mph, to 25 mph, and then back to 40 mph on the roads leading up to base. That annoys me for whatever reason. Then you hear people getting tickets for speeding. :heh:
  • My office mates (male) come in every morning and tell each other their weights. Before a good morning. "192 today and they talk about protein sources all day long. Aint nobody eating no got damn peanut butter and cottage cheese together.
  • Micro-fukking-soft 2013!!! Are you kidding me??!
  • Having to put that dumb ass CAC card pin in 50 damn times a day
  • shytty, slow as systems, and remedial ass system admins
  • Remedial ass co-workers bragging about having 10+ years left retire

*Wooooooossssaaa*

Was speaking to a potential business partner. He has the manpower to execute some lucrative paydays
but I have no interest in travelling to Scotland so perhaps I'll have to take on a virtual advisory role.

In terms of due diligence on the legality front- I've booked an interview with a former SEC attorney
and FCA ( The UK regulatory body ) so i'm hoping this will clarify some things.

On another note - one of my old ex-colleagues is deal making in Japan now. He put me on a
Zoom call with this heiress to one of the wealthiest Jap families. They are looking to exit some
substantial holdings from their portfolio. I couldn't understand a lick of what this girl was saying
and up till then I was holding it in until I heard her say something about Wiz Khalifa...
