Stanford. And yea, not sure how old you are, but man, apply to those consortium schools and get a scholly, avoid the extra debt if you can.

And now I see why you talk about soccer so much in the gym forum, I was like “who the hell from Philly makes soccer their exercise”

I’m 23.

What are consurtium schools? And yea, I’m trying to avoid grad school debt like the plauge. Thank God for my parents and the fact that I didn’t have to take student loans.

Would you say your MBA opened a lot of doors for you? Is the ROI still there? My boy is at Wharton and HKS on a dual program with close to $280k in costs. Thats a nice house in Houston.

My dad did his MBA at Yale, albiet 15 yrs ago, and he’s a strong advocate for the MBA as well. He’s doing quite well for himself. Put 3 kids to college with no loans (2 at Ivys at that).

I’m interested in doing entrepreneurship in Nigeria but I don’t want to be saddled with MBA loans while hustling in Naija. Maybe an Executive MBA?

Hold up, you tryna tell me aint no soccer fields in Philly?!?!

I applied to a few positions in Philly. Sheeeeeiiiiiit, somethings gonna have to give.

We got some educated sistas on the Coli :salute:

Nikkas over here with 60k just trying :francis:

But I do understand this stuff has stages to it.

Honestly, once I hit like $250k annually, I'm good. At that point in time I really just care for political power and connections. Money always follows power. :yeshrug:

I've always seen myself in Nigeria long term. Heck, If I could snag a Deloitte paying me 60k over there as of now, best believe I'd be funneling most of that money into my side ventures while still living good. Nice crib, nice whip, one or two big bakassi women. I'm really a simple man :ld:

EDIT: Making more money is always good, but if you have high overhead, what's the point. Quality of life and Purchasing power is really where it's at.

yea, it opened up doors, at the same time I do see people in my field who simply got into it from undergrad and have worked their way up, some in higher positions, but that’s just how tech marketing is.

MBA is a good look if you get into a top ~15 school (top 30 is cool too if you’re getting a lot of scholarship money). Otherwise, I think having a company pay is the next best thing, that way you can be less picky about school rank.

You’re crazy young so I wouldn’t stress your GPA too much. Your work experience over the next 2-4 years, gmat and “extracurriculars” will paint the picture of who you are now (definitely join a non profit board, do community work, side consulting, or something etc). Strong recommendations and essays are critical as well.

But consortium is a collection of schools with a commitment to enrolling underrepresented minorities, their scholarships cover full tuition and fees, you’d likely only have debt for living expenses (if you don’t have savings) and maybe trips/or academic treks that cost extra.

everyone is on their own journey. You’re likely younger than me since I guess I’m :flabbynsick: set on the coli lol, so 100 before 30 is doing great.

Man i got 2 opportunities with my current company. One here in Atlanta and one in Dallas

Both are gonna be close in salary, im thinking about relocating, maybe a fresh start could take me to another level
Gonna stay here for now and take the Atlanta position. A nice salary bump from where im at and my commute is cut in half. Long term its the better play.

The Truth
How Japan’s prime minister plans to cope with daunting demography

Could Japan be the next spot for work, especially in the IT sector?

Go there, secure a bag and come back stateside.

If Abe (Japan's PM) does look to bring in that many workers, then the comp plan would need to be competitive to entice people to work in a very niche society that has very low diversity.

:ld:
I’m really interested in going to japan and working

I’m interested in overseas work in general, but Japan is a main location. Just trying to figure out how to get there

I threw an updated resume up into Amazon and Microsoft's career sites. Hopefully a headhunter will make me an offer I can't refuse. If I left now I'd be leaving about $3,000 in 401k match on the table as well as some discounts I'm able to take advantage of, but I'd probably be making 25-50% more than what I make now with a more attractive overall compensation package. I'm starting to like RnD type roles more and more, where I can basically dictate what I want to do and there's no issues with it. So ideally that's the type of position I can move into next.

A recruiter asked for my salary expectations and my availability for an interview in an email. I told her when I was available and asked for the salary range. She ignored the question.

Have companies ever come across as too desperate to you?

A company messaged me on LinkedIn about a job. We set up a phone interview for Monday. And then just a few hours later, she emails me about coming in to meet some people on Tuesday.

Yeah but sometimes It doesnt mean anything though. There was a company like that who hit me back within 20 mins of me applying. The hiring manager called me and gave me an impromptu phone interview then set it up an in person wanting me to come in and meet people. It was a 2 hour interview with different people. I left thinking it went well. By the time I came home to write a thank you e-mail, they told me they made a decision and they hired. stupid shyt lol
