Got picked up on the Federal side so I'm leaving the contracting game to be in civil service.
I'm taking a hit on everything except stability, no more contract hoping or the stress with that, which is cool.
Only bad thing is I'm going back to a secure facility, no cellphone or anything again. SMH

hi-five to the bold! I don't know what sucks more a dumb ass commute or long ass hours. Both suck the life out of you. I'm happy for you and I hope it continues to be great!

Congratulations on the stability! It's underrated as you become older for just life, but also you need that steady income to fund some side businesses or something.

I enjoyed it and you cant beat when you have a good company. Like I said in another thread. I was making 95k and my health insurance, which was a great plan was 84 dollars a month. I would encourage everyone who is starting out and doesnt know what they really want to do to give it a shot

Funny because I have a friend on FB encouraging me to apply for Fed jobs right now. I HATE government jobs and contracts too, but I can't front like my friends that work there aren't eating.

cant knock the government hustle. Once you are out of probation its hard as hell for them to get rid of you, then after a few years they cant fire you unless they get your representtive to sign off. Its crazy. That said I hate the pay cut but as you said the security is unparalleled if that is your thing

thank you :myman:..yeah my last job made me think about some things....that i always at the age where i felt i needed to work smarter...2017 was a draining year on me professionally...so many things going on out of my control that had me on verge of burn out...it didnt help that the company offered some of the best benefits in the world, unlimited PTO, and very very significant bonuses (30K bonuses at end of year) on top of the salary i was making (nearly 110K)..so it wasnt a decision i made lightly..but i think for my overall well being this was the right one

yeah getting a job that gives you more bang for your buck with regards to health insurance is crucial in decision makomg...where i work now has like 4 tiers of health insurance coverage and like 2 sub tiers under each one.....the bolded is what i pay now because the coverage was comparable to the one i had at my last job...but at my last job i only paid like 30 something a month for it...i do PPOs too...shyts crazy..my lady works in a hospital...and to have the coverages i had at my old and current jobs would cost her like 200 a month...she doesnt know how and why that is lol..she is like you keep lucking out with that lol

I was lucky until I jumped on the contract I'm now on, I've been on it a month, got a pay increase but I'm waiting on my official order for civil service to come through, insurance is 250 a pay period or 500 dollar a month, so I said fukk that plan and I doing the cobra stuff which is 300 a month, until I get the fed position.

The insurance game is fukked up.

wish the best for him. Hopefully he can find something in the same range. They usually wwill roll contractors over to the new contract but depending on the bid sometimes that can be a 20% cut

Question: What is good book that has a log of business terms e.g. EBITA, top line revenue, P&L, Earning ratio etc.

I know Investopedia has all of this information but I'd like a book that I keep on my shelf for reference.
