My job's hiring someone for my initial role, but the salary range is significantly lower than when I joined a few years ago. :francis:

I've also been applying for jobs on the side, had an interview yesterday and passed it easily. But I only got the interview because I knew someone. I never would've been called if I applied using their online posting. Frustrating knowing there are jobs I have the skills/experience for, but can't get seen. I'd hate to be unemployed searching right now.

Got the offer today, going to turn it down.
Better company and title, but after hearing everything I think the job would be too easy and not enough of a pay/responsibility bump.
So I'd just be bored waiting for the next thing. Back to fighting it out in my current situation for now. Was helpful going through the process, hadn't had an interview in a few years.

Why do they have me handling new office setup while the west coast IT guy is off for 2 weeks and the Australian dude is also off, I guess.

I don’t have access to everything and not even sure about the processes for the things that I do have access to

I have no qualms about letting this laptop stay connected the full time. But after this shyt it won't be any work happening outside those 8 hours :hubie: . Server management over the weekends? Y'all lost that privilege :hubie: .

When I was about to leave my manager messaged me for a Slack huddle just to check in.

And then about an hour ago, tech on the west coast messages me and says that manager wants us to meet daily to go over admin stuff.

They aren’t advanced enough to be implementing AI stuff. I’m working at a meh startup. I think it’s more onboarding stuff, but I’m not sure why it’s daily.

And why do these companies always have email issues with Google Workspace?
They’ve been in business for years and this isn’t their first email campaign.

Recruiter reached and I have a call today, but I’m skeptical of the company. It’s crypto related and they had layoffs last year

Contract ended, so i'm officially unemployed. Not sure what the next move is yet, haven't even updated my resume or anything. Seeing some uptick in recruiters on linkedin for my old resume and Amazon reached out again, but it's a hybrid position and with the whole 5 day RTO thing.. good luck with that :mjlol:



I've been(went back to) deep diving into the AI/LLM space for the past week or so, and it's both equally scary and fascinating with the pace at which things are moving and just how much productivity you can get for only a few cents, and the compute cost keeps falling at a crazy rate when compared to the productivity output/$. It's really disruptive technology. And i don't mean AI as in MS copilot or end user/consumer accessible products, but AI as in.. I can type a single sentence into my terminal and have a boilerplate single page application ready to go, with a project and detailed implementation plan in under a minute.. then i can just guide it through the rest of the process in natural language and have it code and review the code changes live.. or just give it a goal and have it keep plugging away at the problem if the model is capable enough(and if cost isn't a concern) and return to actual working code.. Still a lot of kinks to iron out, as it's a new space, so there's a lot of new tooling and processes change rapidly as new breakthroughs are discovered daily, so there's still a significant amount of maturing to do before the tooling is standard/democratized. However, even with the current capabilities, it's currently slicing through, and has the potential to slice through what we consider to be good or decent paying jobs/sectors at an alarming rate. The tech landscape is gonna change rapidly, don't believe the hype. Just follow the money.

Man some of these CEOs and higher ups definitely be on 👿 time if you follow them on linkedin. They stay on the profile of some of these sexy women under them.

And some of them women definitely fukking their way up to the top. Had one in my old company that was getting promoted to positions she had no business in. Cost the company a couple hundred thousand booking the wrong training course, was a complete airhead but kept moving up to now being a VP. Another one that in 10 years went from entry level to VP in 3 years then flipped that to go to Director of Business Development to multiple VP positions and eventually Chief of Staff at a different company. And was named a member of the Board of Directors of a prominent financial technology company just 3 years out of college. She either got some major connections or fukking. She's a gorgeous white woman that might've just turned 30.

Facts. I think I posted it in here, but with some of the unqualified folk you can kinda rationalize how they may have finessed their way, but some of them and in my experience all white women there's no rationalization other than what you just said.

I thought I was being sexist until I mentioned one of the women to one of my old coworkers and she beat me to throwing it out that she thinks the girl is fukking the CEO. The woman was just one of the empty vessels that said a bunch of buzzwords that didn't make sense. Part of my undoing was calling out her bullshyt and that she was talking out her ass.
