Fair assessment, however as the ONLY person that knows the subject area, I’m not going to stress out just to “prove” myself.

They hired a team of contractors that were “working” for 6 months before realizing they didn’t do anything while I was churning out apps for other areas of the business. Then after 6 months wanted me to tackle the project when I had 5 other projects going. Lmao!! Nah, I’m good. I like my family more than my job.

This just isn’t the environment for me. Again, analytics is a business strategy not an app building competition.

I have worked as a contractor in the past and as such you are always skating on very thin ice. i have also worked mostly within Germany and Eastern Europe recently and so you have the to contend with on top of that. Environments where problem ownership is best extended somewhat into problems-that-you-interface-with-where-some-mud-could-stick, for your own good.

The trick being to use the enhanced perception of your ability to demand what you want when the time is right.

I get that about work-life balance and I too often get that balance wrong.

It's so much more to it, but the fact that's she's Indian and the contractors were Indian I feel played a huge role.

In the beginning I would make suggestion that the way the contractors were going about it was wrong either from a data modeling or logic standpoint, only to be essentially told that maybe I'm wrong and we should reevaluate with the business first. I had to start doing stuff like "According to Qlik best practices.." and include a link. She would ALWAYS question my knowledge even asked me something like "What do you think your value to the company is?" LOL at this point I have none if you have to ask.

After having to constantly prove that I know what I'm talking about, now you want me to further prove myself by taking on their project that you pushed me out from initially because you didn't like my feed back. I don't have the energy or interest.

It's time to to back to contracting. Having a manager that doesn't like you or confidence in your knowledge will always lead to me trying to "prove" my worth and that's just something I'm not willing to do. I have all my work documented, created some data dictionaries and other admin documentation. I'll leave them in a better place than I came and that's all that matters to me.

i was having some work done at my place this afternoon that i had to be away for 4 hours..so i spent it working at dunkin donuts near me using the wifi

i gotta say that little deviation from the norm wasnt bad..shyt was quiet and internet was fast..i actually got some work done..more than i expected..i might need to do that more when it gets warmer..new public places to work outside of my home
