I'm getting a little tired of seeing articles along the lines of "This a$$hole used to be a shoe shiner, now they're making $90,000 per year as a software engineer". I appreciate the effort and drive it took some of these people to make a career change, but fukk if those articles aren't going to start driving the market value down.

Juggling interviews makes me laugh at how reckless I was at my previous role taking calls and doing (in-person) interviews while at work, I would legit hop on the subway and take an extended lunch lmao. No I don't miss NYC (company is HQd there if i wanted to be there I would ).

Anyway I'm gonna take a few days off from productive/posting, these roles are getting a bit overwhelming (in a good way!) but I need to focus.

Numbers looking right and more but my timeline may be moved up, like a lot-I was afraid this would happen but may be a December/Jan exit instead of February. There is opp to negotiate my $8K PMP cert into any offers so we gonna see. I LOVE my team as people but looks like I gotta bounce.

Depends on the company I think. I've referred at mine and they didn't get anything. I've been referred by someone at another company and got something.

No. It’s normally an internal thing with HR and how you’re flagged as a candidate.

*red dot slander* The team has clear language barriers, turnover and inability to execute a lot of functions plus the time difference. Their part of my role was previously done in-house and I can/have done it myself up to intermediate but it's pretty interesting the effects of *globalization* without really accounting for cultural differences. They recently shut down for Holi/Diwali and I needed a rush order for something, mofo bytching and moaning at me about how much work they have- yeah when you shut down an entire department in the middle of a week for a day backlog happens, and the "I get off in five minutes can you wait" like holy shyt these mofos have fukking audacity.

-I was telling a friend about my new job. I say "I'm going to use them to pay for my certifications and start working on my LLC...". This docile negro says something like "Oh using them isn't right...not judging you just trying to be a good Christian". I stopped replying. I've known him for years and we have always talked about "using" job perks for career advancement. This is also a man who never completed undergrad, feels he's too old to go back to school, so gets stuck with whatever job they underpay him in. He's so talented and could be making $200k out in this climate, but he's an ambitionless dud and apparently a good Christian.

-$125k was my number, based on my budget., goals, or whatever else. I got it and I'm happy with it.
