here’s what happened:

1. Went in and spoke with the system architect and explained my frustration, he gave me some advice, but ultimately I said I was done.

2. Called the president to put in my 2 week notice, but he didn’t answer

3. spoke with one of our training managers and we briefly went over some things, said she didn’t want me to go, but she understands since she herself deals with the incompetent nature of the parent company. She’s like the therapist of the office and came from running a HR dept. so she’s always good for these kind of things.

4.the systems architect and I went to lunch since he still wanted me to change my mind. Went over a great deal, and walked away saying that probably a 2 week break would be best and that I should present that to our manager instead of just flat out walking away.

5. the manager calls while we were leaving to speak about some website stuff. in the end I tell him that I’m leaving lunch, but have to speak to him again once i get back

6. he immediately calls the systems architect, like “what’s going on with @Love Sicharre:damn:

7. systems architect takes the call while i go back in the office and told him that he’ll need to find a way to take care of me since I have multiple company’s at my reach so their going to have to resolve whatever issue is happening b/w the IT director of the parent company and myself unless they want to lose me.

8. President of the company calls me back while the architect is still on with the manager, said he just saw my missed call and wanted to see what was going on. Told him its not a big deal and can wait until Monday.

9. I call my manager and explain to him what’s going on and that at this rate Im going to pursue the better opportunities at my disposal. I don’t have anything concrete, but I’m very much in demand. Something, which they know. We spoke for about 10min.

In that we talked about my role, my growth, where they see me. Basically the whole shabang, how appreciative he is for all the work I’ve been doing this month and told me to not make any irrational decisions or anything yet. Said he agreed with my dislike of how the parent company operates, but wants to find a medium and help define roles amongs us and how we’ll operate. He’s coming into the office next week to take myself and the systems architect out for a few hours to develop a better bond.

In the end, I’m still not sure if this is where I want to be. The parent company show a lack of respect, dignity, professionalism, and communication. The Director and Manager would be Level 2 at my old organization, so the fact that this guy tried his little, “I am the IT director you will do what your told” email shyt to is laughable when I would’ve been a better lead in this project as a fukking intern. Even tried to call him and his lackey so he can do that puff cheasting shyt live after that email, but they avoided it…

we’ll see how next week goes:francis:
If you don't peace out on them hoes. Life is too short to be pacified by lunch. It's nothing they can about how the parent company runs things and from your brief description they don't give a damn anyway. You don't have to burn the bridge and you could even consider a LOA or stress time off if you have a relationship with your doctor while you explore other possibilities.

I only read this post and fukk all those people. They don't deserve you.

Back in the process, same company. Let's hope there's no BS blackout period after they check my history with them.

:whoa: :whoa: Imo that's a good thing, it's like a watch what you say type of thing.
I get it on a speakerphone call, but when we can look to the side and see the participants list :francis:. I think I just don't like our business people. I feel like they waste time and try to look busy so they can justify their spot on payroll. My project manager never knows what's going on, joins her own calls late, but she's been at the company like 15 years :unimpressed:

1st Round Playoff Exits
I’m 40 days into this project manager position. My third week they had me running the weekly critical call and taking notes for JIRA tickets that I then have to assign to developers, engineers, etc to complete.

Also every day, I’m responding to and coordinating urgent IT tickets that have to be taken care of ASAP

that’s half of my job, the other is managing three other projects that are in different stages. My outlook/teams calendar is almost completely booked everyday.

I’m just leaving a lifetime a govt work, so I’m a little green to the private sector. Is this normal?:gucci:
They got you working like a slave. You gotta fill your outlook up with BS.

Then you can coast like :ahh:

my workload has increased since that post. I’ve learned chaos is a part of the culture at this company. It’s matter of how you navigate the madness.

I’m holding out to see what this bonus looking like at the year end.

What’s the point of a “community” if you can’t look after one another during an interview.

:unimpressed:

I expect too much from my ppl

You can't expect it because that's a recipe for disappointment, but you have to perpetrate it when you're in the position so that the community actually grows. We're still trail blazing in the industry even though it's not headline material.

you are not enjoying your neww job?

This role was a stepping stone for me to break into the Fintech/Digital Payments industry. The company is the right fit/player, but this role isn't it for me.

Been here a year but remotely, I think at 18-20 months I’ll be good to dip. So thinking end of summer for a pivot, ideally within the company, but I’m also looking at some startups as well. The role is just a tad too operational and specialized for my liking. I wanna be closer to high level Biz Dev/Strategy in emerging markets.

Gonna use the next 6-8 months to really stress test my plans.
