A Villa Straylight.
I'm wondering if I should leave training and development and get into IT. I like the former but I know the latter will be more lucrative.

My company has no upward mobility for the foreseeable future. What ya'll think?

 reason you have to keep grinding in this tech shyt. Within two years the company will move in another direction which means many of us if we aren't willing to learn new shyt, we will be let go. Even then I question how many seats at the table for what is next. So I need to hit the ground running. Literally need to breath, live cloud in the next 2-3 months so I can bounced. They will pay for all of them, I just need to dedicate the time but with my job potentially on the line within a year or two. I need to grind hard so all options can be on the table for my next role.

I'm glad my mom is finally investing. I wish, for her sake, she would have started sooner. But this is what kids are for, to learn from the parents and do better. I'm going to keep contributing to this 401k and, when this car gets paid off, start paying into my own portfolio again.

I think the beauty of having a 401k is being able to watch it grow and condition yourself to understand the importance of regular contributions. I'm not going to meet the 1x your salary by 30 milestone, but at least I'm seeing growth.

they want us to be on a rotating schedule pretty much be on call on the weekend fukk that been there done that

and they haven't even mentioned anything about compensation :francis:

shyt is a killer man :wow:. I get nervous every time my phone rings lol. I have had my weekends wiped due to on call before. Its depressing as fukk knowing the weekend is here, you can't do sheet because you will get hit with an on call. It's even worse when it is something dumb.

This is why I tend to prefer roles that involve programming. Even if you have to learn something new all languages have basic fundamentals that are transferrable so picking up a new language isn't terribly difficult.

Also, most people don't like it or aren't very good at it so there's always demand for it plus legacy systems exist everywhere so even if you have an "outdated" skillset for your current workplace, someone out there probably needs your skillset for something. I mean, COBOL and Fortran programmers are still out here...if you know any modern language I feel comfortable saying you at least shouldn't struggle to stay employed if you know your stuff.
