I’m contemplating going back to school for a second diploma in either financial engineering or mathematics. Need to extinguish some student loan debt from my first degree first
fukk that get some certs for whatever industry you are trying to break in to instead of wasting time and money for a second degree

Let your employer pay for that degree with tuition reimbursement. I won't even pay for my own certs or training materials anymore. If my job won't pay for that shyt I find someplace that will.

It makes no sense to spend your own money to get educated. When these companies keep increasing the minimum needed to get hired.

I've seen several dudes jump ship for a higher paying job a month after the company spent thousands sending them off for training classes. So I've started using these companies the same way.

i dropped the ball hard I should have got a scrum/ project management cert expensed through my employee but got lazy. I even asked in this thread for recommendations :russ:. Now they have cut training pretty much to save costs

My employer cut a huge chunk out of the training budget also. But they got a few more months to reinstate those funds or I'm out early next year.

I didn't realize how much money I was leaving on the table. By not taking advantage of training dollars and certifications over the years. The dudes constantly getting trained on the latest and greatest are commanding huge salary increases after getting certified.

I routinely see cloud cybersecurity jobs paying no less than 120K a year. While regular cybersecurity positions seem to be stuck between 90-100K.

Needless to say I'm moving to cloud rather than get stuck working on legacy cybersecurity technology.

Yup, cloud cybersecurity is going to be the real wave very soon if not already.

New role starts on Monday. My 2020 plans have been accelerated quite a bit but I still want to keep my foot on the pedal. Quarantine has been mainly cutting, belt tightening etc. I think I can keep on this current program for the next 6-7 months before I switch up my program.

:snoop: Don't work as a SWE at a company that doesn't write unit test. This is getting out of hand at this point. Once one line of code is changed you won't find out you have a bug till weeks later because the QA team is sorry af too. :snoop:

UI developers are basically QA for the backend team. :snoop:
