- Turned down for the job. They said I didn’t have enough experience, yet no one else on the team and company had any Qlik experience. I got more than y’all though.

- Spoke with a dude this morning and their candidate fell through so he reaching out on some sloppy seconds. At least gave me a heads up on what went wrong.

I got turned down from two jobs last month because they claimed I wasn't experienced enough. But what they really want is someone that's gonna do the job of 2 people.

You might have dodged a bullet on this one. Especially if they want experience in multiple areas. My last job started slowly creeping up my responsibilities until I had enough and walked.

You're right. Plus I already felt some kind of way once they started pushing back on salary and all of sudden a remote role turned to 25% travel with possible relocation. I should have cancelled but I was trying to follow through or whatever. I also just found it funny someone with NO experience, saying I didn't have enough. I blocked the two recruiters from my phone and flagged their emails as junk :manny:

Then I spoke with this Indian recruiter this morning and I felt bad because I didn't have the patience for the accent. I was a little rude.

From what I saw job searching the last few months is you have to sift through way more trash roles and recruiters.

Most Recruiters right now are afraid for their jobs. So they won't have any qualms wasting you're time in order to look busy. The more people they string along the better it looks to management. I stopped taking calls from certain recruiting firms all together. (cough) Collabera.

Once I found a recruiter that wasn't a complete dumbass. I just waited on them to find me something. It just so happened I found something first and didn't have to go the contracting route.

But dealing with a half a dozen different recruiters? I don't have the patience for that anymore. Especially when they kept throwing any old garbage position my way.

I got my first offer as a junior sec analyst...but I don't think I'll take it.
Salary is non-negotiable, and I cannot survive on what they're offering.

...I've done a cost benefit analysis a good 5 times, and still end up on a no :snoop:

Stop looking at “junior” roles. They will never pay much.

Have a job offer i signed because they gave me the most inflexible deadline and I wasn’t sure how I’d do in my other interview :snoop: I really like the role and they have lots of perks but am hesitant about the people, the hours will be long, and it’s also in NY, they don’t go back to the office until spring of next year but expect me to move out there

just finished my final round with a company where I think I’ll be getting an offer. I love the people, they seem serious AF about work life balance, and one that doesn’t care where I’m located (big for me since I want to move, but could see myself coming back to Cali in 1-2 yrs or moving down south for a lower COL), they have offices in NY and SF which is great for me given my indecisiveness...only thing is I don’t love the role as much

guess I’ll cross the bridge if/when I get there but I’m having so much anxiety about which one to pick if I get the second offer, especially the prospect of reneging on a signed offer :damn:
Sounds like a much better situation to me.

Its crazy how i was the one doing all those damn interviews last year, i forgot how stressful that shyt is. Best of luck to all the brehs and brehettes

I went through hell using Jobscan to get my resume up to the recommended 80% match. Talk about keyword padding :whew:. It was an out and out struggle to get the keywords it identified in without things sounding like fluff. If I get any play off this one I might try to turn in into a template and make it available, although the format is less important than the content.

You think someone can sit for PMP and BS it? Like just go through a Udemy class and take it (I mean just run the course, not really additional studying or prep)?

Honestly, I can't answer that. I've only had formal training and hands experience working as a resource on projects and coordinating projects. Go to the PMI website and look up the components of the test and maybe you can pick a Udemy course based on that.

Fellas. Any way to finesse what you did at the previous job to match more of what you learned from self study? wanna add that i did more devops stuff that i can do with ease just dont want them speaking with the manager and asking about.
Tailor past experience to current open position. No one is going to call your manager but be prepared to speak in detail for what’s listed in your resume
