-Resume was submitted for a full-time 100% remote gig. I originally asked for $125k, but they came back like :whoa: the limit was $110k so, I countered at $115k. The company has good benefits and it would be nice not to interview for a while. They are headquartered in FL :picard:

-LOL another recruiter called about a role for a company I worked for a while ago. It's a good company on paper, but I didn't really like them...one of those places where contractors and employees are clearly divided. They expanded their campus while I was there, so the team moved to one of the new buildings. They designed the contractor spaces smaller than the employees and had us all sitting in the same section regardless of project. Constant chatter and traveling to the other side of the building to collab with full-time team mates. Anywho, I turned the role down and I could tell the recruiter was aggy. The rate was $50/hr and I told her I wanted $60 :lolbron:. She was like "well you can just get in the door..." Get on deez nuts, ma'am. I'm not interested.

Recruiter: So right now we're all working remotely but this position sits in San Fran, would you have any objections to relocating?

Me: No, not at all! As a native Nigerian, I'm actually getting tired of the cold weather in the Northeast. I'm 110% committed to moving

Recrutier: Ok that's great! Let's get you scheduled for a call with the hiring manger!

*Compares SF rent prices to DC* :patrice:

Me (in head): You know....maybe we shouldn't rush this COVID reopening thing. WFH has its merits. Besides a little cold never hurt anyone :guilty:

How are y’all handling these massive job cuts from corporations? There’s word that big cuts are happening this year at my company and I’m kind of :ehh: towards it for some reason. It’s kind of like if it does happen to me, I’d be happy with the small break/relief from the responsibilities, but I’m sure I’ll come out of that quickly and have to get myself worked up to begin the job search again :snoop:

Not going to worry too much about it now, I’ll handle it when and if that day arrives.

Pivoting industries. Companies are still hiring, just for specific roles and positions. The more digitized your company's business operations are, the better off your company should be.

My prediction is we won't see the full pullback from corporate until the effects of a "2nd wave" have materialized and its effects are realized on CFO's books.

Not working now, but surprisingly I'm more optimistic than I've ever been about finding something. I believe I have a strong skill set, it's other logistics, such as location, duration of assignment, and other unknowns that come with the pandemic that sometimes get me down. Just a matter of when and I'm trying to make sure I take daily steps to remain prepared if an opportunity comes my way. Stay ready so you don't have to get ready and all that.

As far as the general population is concerned, a lot of people are going to be fukked and I feel it's due mainly to leadership. The economic subsidies could have gone a lot better if someone mature and competent was in charge. With that said, I still think there will be some opportunities left and people will just have to learn a new skillset.

Two months ago when I was job hunting about 80% of the open jobs we're contract only. So I know if things continue to deteriorate that's all that will be available. So while I'm still employed it's time to pickup some new skills in my spare time. While at the same time Networking with people in other fields. Just in case I need to switch to doing something else.

LOL well it looks like that remote job fell through. First the salary was too much, although the two people I spoke with confirmed that salary was ok. Then on Friday it was "weelll eventually they will need you to relocate...take the weekend to think about it". :stopitslime: Funny because both people were bragging about how this is the first time they would consider doing 100% remote blah blah blah. These issues came after my resume was submitted to the client. I'm never sure if it's general racism because my name is clearly "black" or these companies are just so fickle their needs change daily. Probably a combination of both. I was going to write an email telling both those hoes to shove that job and never contact me again, but I decided against it :heh: Temporary feelings causing permanent situations and all that.

The other recruiter called on Friday in reference to the company I worked for previously saying they are flexible on the rate, so hopefully I will talk to her an see what they say. I have been getting a lot of traction from DICE, so this week I'm going to apply solely through them and see what happens.

Edit: And I oop! Remote company wants to do an interview tomorrow. I still have an attitude, but I'm gong to prepare and wear a dress shirt with some hooping shorts just the same.

Now I'm mad all over again. So ol girl gave me push back on the $125k salary, but I'm on DICE and I see the same job posted with a range of $120k-$130k. Job description is word for word as the one she emailed to me AND from the posting of the actual company. So I emailed her asked for some clarification. I get when it's some fishy stuff going on in the background, but when there is a public/open job description, that's just tacky. I saved the link and screenshot the post.

3rd party or someone from the company itself?
