Seeing a little traction on the job front. One role was a data analyst, $50/hr on 1099, about 10 minutes from my house. 3 months + extension. The description said it would be a lot of budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, which I enjoy. I really do like organizing other people's money :heh:

The other was an IT project manager and on God, they are either running through people like crazy or it's expanding due to COVID, because it's for this educational project with Baltimore County Public Schools. I can tell by the job description. This would be more in the $60-$75 range and it's what I want and I do want my PMP. It would be a good way to help me study. But working with government is always a bunch of red tape. You get paid a grip for doing absolutely nothing that will be worthwhile. I like to see projects get completed.

I'll see what happens. My goal is $125k salary. I calculated in the cost of my degree, plus my bills, debt payments and money I'd like to save, live and invest on and I can be comfortable there. But I was I was also comfortable at my last role of $95k, so I can grow into my goal and as debt decreases, the more salary I have to play with.

My homegirl has her PMP and she told me she studied using a Udemy cram session by Joseph Phillips. I'm going to check that out instead. I purchased this other prep software, but my attention span...

Good to see things turning around, you had us worried last month.

How much money do ya'll keep in your savings account? I'm gonna have $10k in my money market account by august. I was thinking about putting 30 to 35% of my of monthly income in the VGT ETF instead of my money market. Is that a good idea?
My bank does 6.17% APY for the first $1,000 so I keep about $1,000 in there at all times. Outside of that, money that I know I won't spend gets automatically sent to my brokerage. 30-35% sounds great, just make sure you are hitting your other targets beforehand:
Personally, I haven't invested $18K into my 401K but I have a 401K and a Roth with a decent amount in it so I feel confident in also redirecting a chunk of my $$$ to my trading account.

It's official. I'll be working from home until the end of the year. CEO said the school situation in the county of our company HQ is likely going to be hybrid model so no point in having people come back at the end of September as was the original plan. I was already planning to negotiate a 2-day in office / 3-day WFH schedule with my manager once we were due to return to the office, but knowing I don't have to is great. I can stick to my "COVID 2020" timeline.

OAN: I have a checkpoint with my mentor over the weekend. We've been mapping out some possible remote work opportunities for Pan-African companies and I must say, dude has a breadth of knowledge. Just the perspective alone he's been giving me has been immense. You really don't know what you don't know.

I do wish the libraries opened up around here. Need a change of scenery when I study and do personal work...

"Your resume looks more like a project manager". "You come off as a developer". Then you just end up going crazy with revisions. NOPE not going down this path.

My assets are split 50/50 in terms of cash(checking/AmEx HighYield)/market investment(401K/Roth IRA/Linus/Betterment investment acct). I could probably get away with 25/75 but I'm super risk averse so I'll stick to what I'm comfortable with.

I don't see any problem with it if you are comfortable with a possible crash sometime this year. You'll still own those positions if/when things recover.

- got rejected from one job for being “too ambitious”, quite frankly me and the hiring manager seem to be around the same age and I think my experience intimidated her

- on the flip got a final round coming up (5 hours of zoom calls :mjcry: ), finished a final round on Friday and am in the mix for a Sr Director role at another spot. All have no timeline for going back to the office, and 2/3 are open to people being wherever the hell they want to be even if/when offices open back up
