I actually live in a very popular tourist area in a shared apartment in zone 2 :skip: but i dont commute. 27k is shyt but there are plenty of people living on this kind of wage for years only difference is this year i will be doubling up :manny:

My onboarding at the company that bought my employer is later this week. After that my 1 year contract starts and I get switched to hourly.

People keep asking me if I’m going to try for a permanent position with the company after the contract. They ask like all have to do is push a button and the job is mine. Yeah, I’m gonna study, try to network during this time, and go for a job there; but I have to look elsewhere too. Can’t put on your eggs in one basket.

camden :mjlit:, with my salary after tax i get around 1800 715 on rent save/party with the rest. There are lots of people in the same situation as i said earlier some even worse, there are people living in zone 6 on lower salaries. It sucks but it's doable, i have been living in london 6 months now to really enjoy this city you need a decent salary however

Still in the process of studying, but I want to leave my non profit job and maybe do data entry until I can get my certs. I've been applying like crazy but can't get my foot in the door. I can't do this 3 train commute everyday. I'd rather just input data and study while studying at home afterwards.

If I knew what I knew now I wouldn’t have joined to the military. Only thing that I enjoy is the security clearance aspect. I’d do this IT stuff so different:

1. Go to community college getting a associates in network security or something. I fukked up trying to look down on community college but that shyt means a little something after I look back at it. It’s insane.

2. Get CompTIA A+ while getting the associates. That cert holds weight especially when you first start out. As your help desk experience grows so does your pay. My friend making $65k rn off A+ alone working for some bank in Colorado.

I could be wrong but if I had started that in 2013 instead of this I feel like I’d be blowing smoke or managing something somewhere by now.

In wrestling with paying off my student loans for good, paying down a chunk of this car loan, or just hanging onto the money because I like seeing that number in my account :sadcam:. In reality I'm probably going to end up paying the student loan and putting that monthly payment on top of the car loan. As much as I want to save for a house, I really gotta get that one off my back. Maybe look at refinancing it before too long...

Alright, payment submitted. 2 and a bit years for ~15k. Could have paid it off sooner, but now is the right time.

welp, i thought the first check was the raise that I got, turns out that was the raise+back pay from not getting it. That amount consistently would have been everything I needed. I'll be moving with my lady soon so I'll be forced to find something different. They really pay you with prestige in this academia stuff, not like i do work though lol.

I juggled the same options and paying it off was so refreshing even if investing it could have brought greater returns.
