That's what's up! I'm happy for you and wish you nothing but luck. I'm also glad you were able to use this place as a resource, when it comes to these type of things there really is a wealth of info and I'm happy people don't mind sharing.
I've been a contractor for the majority of my career, nearly 20 years of experience, had a few direct-hire roles, and decided just this year the whole "full-time with benefits and retirement option" isn't going to be a move for me. I'm probably not going to give any company more than 2 years of my time.
My biggest source of contention now, is figuring out my actual direction. Working with smaller companies, I had to wear a few different hats. I could be a developer on one project, an analyst on another and the project coordinator for something upcoming. By next year March I'll have a SAS applied analytics cert, MS in Data Analytics w/ a specialization in project management, my PMP and I want to get my Qlik Sense developer certification as well. I'll either need to start a business or find the perfect role that utilizes this hybrid of skills. I wouldn't mind being a technical project manager or apart of some team that uses their data for business strategy and metric development, working more with leadership.
I know that all too well. I've been the single point of contact for everything at one company and been a cog in a compartmentalized wheel at others. I was on that journey for the perfect role to match my hybrid of skills but it's like chasing a unicorn. I recently just decided to assess what's important to me professionally(company culture, role, etc) & personally (compensation, working hours, flexibility) and focus on the handful of skills that will get me where I want to go.
