It’s hard to give 100% at my day job and 100% towards my own businesses. Technically they want me at the job for 9 hours:merchant:and sometimes I’d be on call 24 hours for a week at a time, have to take work home, or stay late. I’d imagine it’s similar for most here.

I wouldn’t recommend it but my contract is up this summer so I scaled back my productivity at work. Now I go in and do about 70:30 my work as opposed to my actual day job responsibility.

If you want to continue to progress in your career you may just have to grind it out and work those longer days. For me I cut back and mainly deal with my businesses. I do just enough to meet my quotas.

I do feel much more fulfilled though. I’m actually excited to wake up in the Mornings again :ld:

Speak with your employer and see if there is a way you can add some flexibility to your schedule. Maybe you can work from home one day a week or four 10-hour days with one day off. You could also cut back your hours if you can swing it financially. In some companies 30-35+ hours is still considered full-time. You can check with your HR. If you can work 1 less hour, you can dedicate that to studies.

If you have health insurance and want to finesse a little, visit your doctor and say you're stressed from work. Once that's documented, you're good to go in the event you want take any medical leave. Follow up about every 2 months or so.

I saw that eating healthy was apart of your goals and that's going to help with your energy and staying awake. I would suggest doing any reading on breaks at work and save application when you're home. For me, it's easier to stay engaged when I'm trying to apply the knowledge vs trying to read. Make small goals...15 minutes of reading, 30 minutes of applying and set a timer. Record yourself reading the material out loud and play it back to yourself over and over.

Does anyone else deal with people that don't seem to commit any information to memory? I repeatedly get questions about things that are bog standard for our application and we talk about this stuff on the regular :snoop:

I'm just so done with this my current role. The team, my manager, the work etc.

I made a mistake in taking the promotion. I should have just applied elsewhere in the company.

I've had that happen to me and I'm guilty of that too. :francis: Everything is googlable. Why commit to memory?:francis:

I know, breh. I know. :mjcry:
Well see here's the thing, I get questions that are like if we both got in the car and I asked you where the steering wheel was when we both been driving every day for 15 years. On top of that, every time we hop in the car I ask you a variation on that same question. You're gonna look at me like :martin:. It's basic shyt we been through day in, day out and it's kinda critical to what we need to do to operate. How can you not know by now:skip:?

are you talking any mba program in general seeming like a party? i mean you socialize but i dont know if you could call the experience a party bro lol

I don't want to say it's a party, but it definitely isn't as intense as undergrad for some people. From what I've gathered, probably the most intense semester is your first semester in your first year. That's when you're gunning for a summer internship. 2nd semester is pretty chill. If you've secured your internship then you're just taking classes and possibly doing side hustles, networking etc.

Your second year is a mixed bag. If you accepted a return offer from your summer internship then the 2nd year is almost a wash. Co-worker of mine said his 2nd year was really just spend socializing and traveling. He already accepted an offer to return post MBA so it was just about passing his remaining classes and networking. Dude was doing 3 day trips to London, Paris, Colombia etc. He went to Darden by the way.

For people that were "re-recruiting" then yea, 1st semester 2nd year is still pretty important.

I'm starting to see why European MBA programs are just 1 year and growing in popularity. You come in, learn some business principles, network and keep it moving. At a cheaper price might I add. The 2 year program is better if you want to pivot industries because you get that summer internship opportunity.

All in all, I think it's still worth it, but only from the top 10/15 schools. Top 20-25 only if you're getting money to go.

Being aggressively recruited for a job that I'd have to relocate outside of DC for two months.

A little nervous about being in a new state for two months but it'd be a huge pay increase + job title change. Still applying for other jobs.

In other news, I have a cute phone case idea that middle school/high school girls would love but not sure how profitable it'd be.

I don't know why you're even thinking about it. If there is one piece of advice I could give anyone working in IT, it would be don't be afraid of the unknown. Two months in a new state is nothing. If it's as good as you described I would have accepted the offer already.

I deal with them all the time but depending on their title I give some leeway.
