Nothing crazy really. My friends wanted to go to lounge and wanted me to put up on a table. I gave them the money and they reserved a spot. But I really shouldn’t have agreed to go in the first place because I’m cutting back on the entertainment spending for the time being. Need to save more and also start putting more money towards my Nigeria trip in December.
I knew if I went to the lounge I’d spend even more there but I had already put up the bread so I was between a rock and a hard place.
Wanted to see it through because it would have been “lost” money, but I just took the L didn’t go. That was my fault in being double minded.
More money has been lost through indecision than the wrong decision.
At least you learned from it. What's your target goal for Nigeria ? $5-10k ?
For this trip in December, probably just like $2k (not including my flight there). This trip is short (~2.5 weeks) so the money would just be for movement within the country and socializing.
This trip is geared more to meeting new people, rewarming some of my cold connections and getting some data points for my personal projects. I’m also trying to get out to Ghana for a few days.
The big move in about 1.5-2yrs that’ll be like upwards of $15k. More or less depending on what my revenue streams are while I’m down there. Nigeria is the base for S. Saharan African business opportunities. Ghana, Kenya and SA are also viable opportunities as well. Rather get in when I’m still mid 20’s for the first bite of the apple.

The past couple of days have reinforced the fact that just because you have a decade or more of experience, doesn't mean you're actually useful. I may be witnessing a level of ineptitude you'd only see in college :franchit:. I know I keep saying it, but I'm about to get back on the job hunt. I was really gonna try and stick it out for another year and a half but each day is being more of a slog. Unrealistic expectations and next to no team support. Had some BS pop up yesterday and they still had the nerve to ask the process on lower priority items :cosbytf:
I'm in the job hunt as well. I'm throwing the kitchen sink at it right now. Asking people in other departments to refer me outside. I've gotten an offer but not the offer I want.
I'm getting straight raw with it. Going old school and literally will just be blocking 45 mins a day to call, call and follow up with recruiters.

shyt trash to me. Gotta remember to cancel this shyt before I get charged. Access to salary insights that I can just Google. "LinkedIn Learning" that ain't worth much. Seeing who viewed your profile which ain't that big of a deal. The only thing that "I" feel is even mildly beneficial is being a featured applicant for recruiters but I haven't reaped the benefits of that (not even for basic jobs; prob have more people contact me on a free Indeed account), and it's been almost a month.
The word just came through that my boss wants me to present about the project I'm working on to his boss :franchit:. I'm tempted to tell them how I really feel about how things are going down.

Seems like a top ranked MBA has more sway in SS Africa than even continental US.
