50 Cent losing that Sales Battle to Kanye in '07 is the reason Hiphop is so wack now

like seriously, do yall listen to yourselves. if you dislike todays music there is nothing stopping you from making an album of your older music u like and blasting it all day.

instead of biitching about todays music, nobody is once again forcing you to listen to it. yall act like all older music has been wiped off the face of the earth and you have to bump the shiit thats played today

If there was ever a forum or platform to talk about the state of hip hop one would assume a hip hop forum would be it.

I don't know any old head on this board who thinks Hiphop is in a good place right now, that's including myself. We pretty much all agree it sucks right now, regardless of some the quality that is coming out ala "Kendrick"

I think you're confusing the older heads with the young ones on this board

That shyt is the reason you have all these suburban soft ass rappers today. That is the reason that you have the Drakes, Tyga, Kid Cudi etc. Had 50 won that sales battle on Sept.11 2007 the streets would be more represented in hiphop today. The record labels threw their money behind the suburban shyt once Kanye sold more records than Curtis. That shyt drastically changed the climate in hiphop. I think people bought the graduation album just to see 50 retire like he said he would if he lost the bet.

Ye just make better music. Hip Hop won when you think about it. :youngsabo:

@Blackthoughts I think this thread has some merit. HipHop hasn't been the same since.

No room for the hardcore sound after that. 50 was the last one to be mainstream & then fell out of the light at around this time. That 50 album wasn't good though so maybe he has himself to blame more than anything.

rap music isn't really effective unless someone doesn't like it. I don't care what the subject matter is. as long as somebody can't stand to listen to it, it's working.

Ironic that Hot Rod dapped this post, had Curtis won that battle Hot Rod may have had a release date by now and wouldn't have to bite Flo-Rida because that wave of music wouldn't exist.

Curtis is 50s weakest album to me but I still bump it. I play it more then graduation. Curtis > graduation imo
