It's kinda like if Snoop Dogg and Will Smith dropped an album on the same day in 1995. If Will sold more records then hiphop probably would've went softer than it did. Record labels would've signed and released more soft hiphop acts and ignored the DMX's and Jay-Z's of the world.

I'm an LA dude and anyone familiar with the Gang scene will tell you niqqas aren't banging like they were In the 80's and 90's. Not generalize and say no one is banging. I would maybe a quarter of the amount of Gang Members are actively "banging" in comparison to the 80's and 90's. Back them everybody and they momma was on some banging shyt. You could even find Hard Sets in the suburbs who were crazy as fuk because they felt like they had something to prove back then. It's just not like that any longer

messicans/salvadorians stronger than ever tho :yeshrug:

might have a lil something to do with it :yeshrug:

Yawn.

I don't understand why you need "hard" music.

If you want it, theres no one stopping you from obtaining it.

I don't need hard music fam, I just don't like the direction of the suburban soft shyt. I listen to r&b just as much as I do hiphop if not more. If I want soft shyt then at least be on some Ma$e in 97 shyt.

@Blackthoughts also you state Oakland is just as hard as ever. But guess what, a chick like Kreyshawn would never have gotten a pass back then. Not in a million fukin years. That in itself shows the landscape in Oakland has indeed changed some

Kreayshawn has no pass in the streets of Oakland. If you notice, she never made a video in Oakland and no longer resides there. She's a walking meal if she tried to hit up a sideshow or walk thru Eastmont Mall. By the time the world heard of her she was already relocated. She was living in L.A when she got her deal and we all know L.A is a much safer place than Oakland. That's why you see all of the out of state rappers going there and false flagging. Those same rappers would be victims out here. Kreayshawn might be good in Berkely or North Oakland which is majority white but as far as her being good in East Oakland it's a wrap. She can't announce that she'll be in Durant Square on twitter and walk out of there without being a victim.

Blackthought, you seem to have an old stale taste in music. If that's the case you'll always find it in the past or in the underground . . stop relying on the mainstream to put it on a plate for you

Your speculation is cool in theory but I can say with 100% certainty that you're wrong here. Not about Kreayshawn but if a carbon copy of her walked right into Oakland and started performing she would be untouched and pursued by everyone working their.

That's not the case at all, I'm actually shocked that the overall consensus on this board is that hiphop is in a good place right now. People have learned to alter their taste buds to make shyt taste a good meal. nikkas are so eager for half decent music that they're saying Good Kid M.a.a.d City is a classic.

I don't know any old head on this board who thinks Hiphop is in a good place right now, that's including myself. We pretty much all agree it sucks right now, regardless of some the quality that is coming out ala "Kendrick"

I think you're confusing the older heads with the young ones on this board

You can perform anywhere with security, but if Kreayshawn walked thru Bayfair Mall on a Saturday afternoon she'd be lucky if she was only robbed. Pretty Black couldn't make It in Oakland so why would you think Kreayshawn could? Ol Girl was from the 30's by Skyline anyway, that's 1 of the least violent parts of the city.

like seriously, do yall listen to yourselves. if you dislike todays music there is nothing stopping you from making an album of your older music u like and blasting it all day.

instead of biitching about todays music, nobody is once again forcing you to listen to it. yall act like all older music has been wiped off the face of the earth and you have to bump the shiit thats played today

Bayfair :laff:

The only people at that mall are white people :umad:

She'd go there an have an autograph signing . . what'd her music sell like 2,000 copies . . probably all from the limited amount of white high school girls in that area

I go to all of the local shows in Oakland, I can say FOR A FACT . . that if a carbon copy of Kreayshawn were to walk on stage and perform it would be nothing. Literally nothing would happen to her except a bunch of people would try to come up to her like she was an opportunity, they would try to get her down on their own sh!t . . NOTHING would happen to her

It's called the Britney Spears effect

. . or in the Bay Area, we'll call it the Roach Gigz effect :troll: . . do you know how easy it was for him to start his career? Do you know how little of an amount of work he had to do to prove himself before people came up to him seeing dollar sings, on some "Hey man, get down with me . . I can school you on everything you need to know to take over"

I know this for a fact, matter of fact there's an white boy from out of state performing at just about every local event in Oakland right now. I literally see the same thing happening to him right before my eyes, by next year you guys will probably be talking about him. Do you know why Roach Gigz stock has been going down ever since his initial success? . . Went down the wrong path, he'll probably never surmount the level he's at which is the equivalent of where the Bay Area hasbeens of yesteryear are at

With that said, if Kreayshawn came through to the Bayfair mall it would be nothing more an autograph signing. Half of the young white girls out here emulate her
