GRoDT was the worst thing that could have happened to 50 Cent. How is your first album your best?

I'mma keep in 100, GRODT is an extremely influential album, but I personally think it's become overrated af. It's a classic, yes, but it's not some 5 mic, top 20 type of album that ppl try to make it.

You're right. I was in HS when it came out and I had it. I had all the mixtape shyt too. But it was a hype job and there are a lot of skipables on it.

It's a 4 mic album to me. Classic doesn't mean 5 mics (see Diplomatic Immunity, et al).

I was in HS too, which I think adds a lot to albums like this and the whole dipset movement, etc. b/c it was so huge, and it was thee movement of the current time, so a lot of casual fans make it out to be better, quality wise, than they really were.

Kanye was hot since College Dropout. 50 stopped being relevant musically around the time this sales battle happened

He's revising history to make himself seem better. The facts are he got as much money and accomplishment that took the rap legends 10 years in his 1st year. Unfortunately they had better catalogues
What you just said is essentially what I was saying lol I also said I see how 50 trying to spin it

I feel like everyone knows 50 started declining musically around that time except 50

Tbh, it's pretty common in hip hop for your debut to be your best album.

GRODT did exactly what it was supposed to do and it's a classic. The Massacre being a watered down version of GRODT is what really hurt 50's run.

Curtis was just bad. I'd even rank BISD over it.

Curtis was 50 throwing everything on the wall to see what sticks. I Get Money was the best song on there but most of the others were just blander versions of other 50 songs or songs that were trending in 2007.
I disagree. Curtis was disappointing but there was some good songs on there. I agree BISD was definitely better and it’s a slept on album.

It's a commercial classic... undeniable impact and hits but lacking quality(beats and rhymes) all the way through.

Check the fashions, trends, and even behaviors of young blacks from 2004 to 2008. It was NOTHING like it was from 2000 to 2003. The switch up was nothing like I have ever seen.

How old are you?
The communities were stll plagued with the same socioeconomic hurdles that have always existed. Kanye merely gave the public a perception of there being alternative musical route for young black ppl. That’s why those stupid articles rushed in to declare “gangster rap was dead” after Kanye won the war with 50. Then 2yrs later Flocka blows up. Then 3yrs year later Keef brings drill to prominence. Kanye wasn’t a savior. He was an artist who, yes, did something diffirent.

Remember the switch up from baggy clothes to rock stat fitted clothing? Around 2004 to 06 to be exact. A lot of brehs changed up the ways they did things, and they related to Kanye a lot more in that time period. They saw 50 was this out of touch Oldheads, especially after the end of 2005.
It definitely wasn’t this cut and dry. The preppy dudes and college bound dudes were always just that. Kanye maybe gave a voice to a class of black ppl who were already there. But he didn’t change shyt on the macro or micro level. He’s an artist.
