I heard he got six figures plus a shoe deal. Salary in excess of 100k. It'll be interesting to see how this works out. Penny didn’t know shyt. RJ was all Kansas for a while. What I know was he wanted Kansas but an agent being what they are spoke to his handlers about this opportunity and they were sold instantly while Hampton wanted college. It was a mess behind the scenes but the rest is history.
No they are not on the same side. It’s the NBA and the NBPA who decides that, and what holding it back is the owners want the full medical history of the future prospects and the NBPA not feeling that. This is why nothing was announced yet, but hopefully it’s a matter of when.
As for Melo, this news might be the best thing that happened for him since Lavar went Lavar. Hampton is the top guard in his class. Melo joins that league or even better join his team, nonstop coverage for these kids all year long. He just need Lavar to get out of his way.

I got no problem with a kid going to get paid early, if you are good enough and play decent competition them folks will keep an eye on you, my only thing is, that’s a lot of responsibility for 18 year olds, so far away from home, and will he have people in place that he can trust to look out for his best interest

That’s behind the scenes talk and the second tweet is what I was told. RJ could have signed the deal a month ago, but none of the outside world knew about it. Cal wanted him bad, Self wanted him bad, Penny wanted him bad. Dude said emotional like I give a fukk about any of teams being posted. I’m talking to recruits on a weekly basis and this shocked everyone. I’ll be at Pangos Camp this weekend and I bet you the entire talk is what RJ did. Yeah overseas was mentioned, it was a possibility for Precious but people felt it was all talk.
And to the guy who said NCAA is alao behind it. One and Done is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NBPA. They are the ones behind it. Silver and Emmert, NCAA pres, can’t do nothing about it. Silver was championing 2 and done for years but said it’s a losing battle. Now he’s on board with 1&D with NCAA co-signing it. NBPA have to agree with it for rhe next CBA in time for 2021.

This is never an issue with MLB players getting drafted at 16. No one talks about them missing college or the “experience”

Lester Quinones immediately said that he was recruiting Boogie Ellis after he committed to Memphis on May 10.
DJ Jefferies said that he was recruiting Boogie Ellis. Once he heard Boogie was decommitting from Duke.
