Happy for breh getting his paper overseas but y’all know the NCAA ain’t going anywhere right? There’s still gonna be players who won’t play in the league to take the spots up for the league bound players. Still gon be a Duke, UNC, KU, UK, and all the other major programs.

Young breh's are still scared about the G-league. A lot of fairy tales about 30 year old g-league players out to take their lunch money going around.
Bro it aint no fairytale. Look how much Jordan Poole (18 at the time) struggling to score and defend against then g-leaguer Fred Vanvleet who he has like 6 inches on. The other guy Marcus Posley ain't even a g-league caliber player.

Most those 18 year olds will get exposed in the g-league. Also the coaches have no obligation to play you (it's not like the team you're playing for has your draft rights and actually cares to see you develop). So if you're struggling early they're not just going to let you play through it. And they have players on 2-way contracts that they actually want to see develop who will get priority. The G-league is 100% a fools errand. In college your playing against much weaker competition on a way bigger stage. All it takes is ONE game in college (Dante Divincenzo) to change everything for you.

I feel you but FVV isn’t your typical G-Leaguer

He is though. Undrafted. Thought not to have much of a chance in the league and yet still fought his way into the NBA (on a serious playoff team no less). Over 35% of NBA players have played in the G-League at some point or another. The Spurs for example, they expect their rookies to play at least primarily their first season in the G-League. The only one who hasn't really done so is Kawhi Leonard and that's fairly obvious why.

Kris Middleton, Pascal Siakam, Rudy Gobert, Clint Capela, Robert Covington, Quinn Cook, Alfonso McKinnie, Thomas Bryant, Yogi Ferrell, Jonathon Simmons, Tyler Johnson, Justin Holiday

All of those guys got better in the D/G-League. Three of them were first rounders (Pascal, Rudy and Clint) and they still had to do long stints down there. Now they are all very rich men (Siakam is about to get the bag). If you go to the G-League, you have to ball out. It is a prerequisite.

Also the problem I have with that $125k is who's paying it? Is it the individual teams or the league themselves. Because if I'm a team what incentive do I have to pay a player $125k to play on my g-league team when I don't have his rights. So I'm losing money and a roster spot for a guy that more than likely will go to another team.

Yeah Lavar pretty much admitted that’s why he pushed Lamelo to go international instead of g league

That's why I've always thought the league needs to push for every NBA team to have a G-League affiliate which they're getting closer to. Once that happens they could allow teams to draft players straight out of high school and could even force a mandatory year in the g league. It would handle the issue of the league not wanting players straight out of high school on main rosters. I liked Mark Cuban's idea of using that year to force players to take financial literacy classes and other classes to prepare them for making the real money. I think on top of that the player's rookie salaries could be extended an extra year and that first year salary would be deferred until after they finish that first year as well as being contingent on finishing the classes.

The Heat do that too. Whiteside, Winslow, and Josh Richardson all were sent to the G league at one time

TYRONE GA!
FWIW, the NFL only has a 3 years removed from graduating HS rule, there is no age minimum....and NBA players are the ones who voted for the league minimum age.
The point is the restriction out of high school and while it's not technically an ncaa rule, I'm sure they had input :mjpls:
