Real as it gets
I wish I would let some kid from the burbs tell me Im soft. The goal is to get out the hood Whatever way possible
My old block...
My gpa aint that hot no more though
Point is.....the biggest secret in the industry is 90% of the most successful nikkas in rap did go to college or were extremely smart regardless & simply dumbed dpwn their image for the public. You not building $100 million empires being a dumbass. Diddy went to Howard. Suge Knight went to UNLV. Luda to Georgia State. Ice Cube spent a year in Arizona. Nas & Jay-Z didn't go to college but, are smarter than 90% of the nikkas on here. Tupac & his background goes without saying. If you think being hood =/= being smart.....then
As far as your question, I dont really care if its right or wrong to portray an image you've moved past. I'm just addressing the T/S. Saying people who grew up broke can't speak about their experiences because they went to school or got a job is fukking stupid, thats THEIR life The only cats I've heard say this stupid shyt are suburban kids who live out gangster fantasies from the confines of their parent's basement, never going anywhere near the hood unless it was to buy weed & jump back on the highway.
I wasn't saying I didn't belive you. I have a similar story myself. And it bothers me to no end when i see violence and stupidity promoted as a good thing in the hood. I was lucky enough to have a positive roll model, most kids aren't so they grow up worshiping the wrong things. In my opinion our celebrities should be promoting education and success, not guns, drugs and hoes. Especially the educated ones. I could understand a gucci man talking stupid cause that's all he knows. But if your educated and that education lead to your success then you should not be telling the kids to go sale drugs.
I think y'all are coming in hear arguing against the op and not the premise of the thread. I wasn't on the old site so I know nothing about his history, but the fact stands that too many people promote and condone ignorance in the black community. And all you dudes runnin in hear talking about "it's only entertainment and it sales" are part of the problem, not the solution.
He said that he always did well in school in an interview .. And you can still be from the hood and still go to college ( shyt and sell drugs how you think these nikkas get drugs from other students)
why is this 5 stars?
I never knew having bad grades was a prerequisite to trap?
this really means nothing
U got to be a cac.
I know a dyde who did better than me in high school that graduated went a Junco and got caugjt with weed and guns, did time.
Another dude. On honor roll all the time, graduated and turned to the streets.
it happens
And Drizy dropped out of high school.
smh we really hating on being smart?
There are dope boys in college right now who will bust your fukking grape if you test they gangsta. You suburb cacs watch too many movies.
These Urban Fantasy enthusiasts stay getting their dreams crushed... Wait until they find out their favorite rapper was raised in a two parent home...
It don't take a goon to sell drugs nikka. You got lame ass white boys out here selling powder, pills, and weed. Two Chains don't come off like no super thug. Just a nikka was in the streets at one point and sold some work. TS must be
so wha the nikka got a 4.0
only means he did wha he had to do...got the job done..not for no rapper..but for himself n his family
funny how many southern nikkas been thru the college thing...n did what they had to do..n got in the rap game..rap game get dead...they got somethin2 fall back on..
shyt pimp c performed sonnets at carnegie hall..gettin d1 tenor solo ratings n shyt...he get tired of rap..nikka coulda sung operas
do it change the outlook on how i look at any of em..nope...do i feel they need to have positive messages to help the youth...nope..i dont give a fukk..
my concern is mines.,.fukk everybody elses ...my kids already know this shyt is fictional ...jus like freddy michael..jason n chucky
instead of these bullshyt rappers who aint gone amount to shyt..or get pulitzer prizes..y not put em on to some of the nikkas who won ...
nikkas so concern bout the youth n rappers..nikki maya n langston work aint went nowhere...
Barney Simpson is the same CAC that complained about Kendrick being a rapper because he as a straight A student on sohh ... u lost if u cosign this idiot. He is caught up in idolizing rapper so the truth that its only entertainment is something he can't grasp.
Ignore this clown... he seems to have something against black men being intelligent.
Its a business, sadly people want dumbed down content and these entertainers oblige them.
You're a herb. I see you from a mile away
You and I both know nobody's buying that
and Gucci Mane went to college too
I don't disagree. I can't change how everyone thinks though. I can only do my part as a fan, which is why I can listen to songs like Job Song from Consequence or Devil's Pie from Rhymefest or songs Killer Mike or David Banner make. Not many others do, but I can't get upset at other people because they're not enjoying different aspects of hip-hop. Elitists do that and I'm not one of them. Why not try to change this sad truth? Saying "it sales" is not a good enough reason to keep promoting negativity in our community.
Why do people look up to rappers? It's cause they have all the cars, jewelry, and girls. If rappers promoted getting an education and being a responsible adult as the key to getting all these cars, jewelry, and girls, then more young men would want to be that way.
And there are plenty of artists that are succesful and don't promote the ignorance that 2chainz does. Using your example 50 cent. Yeah he talked allot about killing and drugs, but at the same time he showed the kids positivity, and promoted intelligent moves. He also talked about why it is NOT cool to be a gang banger. He talked about fatherhood, he had his son in his first video. No one is saying you have to be a total nerd talking about "stay in school" in every rap. But being purposely ignorant and promoting stupidity is not what rappers should be doing, and it is damaging to young impressionable fans.
