That's a great question friend.

I want to hear about his hoop dreams. I want to know how he grew up to turn into a 4.0 avg, which I think is something to be proud of. I want to know how he hooked up with ludacris. I want to know how it felt to sit on the shelf of dtp records while Luda was out making millions. I want to know how he met his partner cap 1. I want to know what happened when his partner was incarcerated. I want to know how he got the name 2chainz. I want to know what led a fine upstanding man into the life of a trapper.

U know - gasp - a real album with storytelling rhymes . Not 16 tracks of forced punch lines over mike will made it beats.

The sad part is 2chainz is a good rapper.

"ghetto dreams" ft scarface is one of my fav songs this year.

I have nothing against the south but for almost 10 years y'all been consigning clowns like Lil Wayne and Rick Ross. Is it too much to ask for a real Street MC that new York can rock wit??

1. new york has no shortage of "street" rappers so why you askin for a southern rapper that "ny can rock with"
2. you callin out the rappers instead of the blogs and radio stations that push these nikkas
3.new york has no shortage of "street" rappers so why you askin for a southern rapper that "ny can rock with"

Thats where your wrong people are buying that shyt. The greats are the ones that have something to say beyond the normal everyday ignorance you hear everybody else spewing.

Im not saying that rappers should be dropping "stay in school" albums but the greats have always been respected for their positive influences.

J.Cole sold more than 2chainz and gucci. And he promotes positivity and education.

Kanye blew up from talking about dropping out of college. But it wasn't because he was promoting stupidity. He was promoting taking charge of your life and making informed choices.

No one ever really finds success promoting total ignorance. Yeah 2chainznis hot today, but that will only last until the white folks above him decide it's time to move on to another bafoon.

"Never go full retard" -Tropic Thunder

Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz should have learned that.

"It's only entertainment!" -:scusthov:

Are some of yall like 15 years old? :what:

Just enjoy the music for what it is: entertainment.

I have never seen a website more consistently repetitive in its disdain for entertainers embellishing their past to tell a story.

:sadcam: at my nikka Plies. Is he really an RN?

This whole shlt got me :mindblown: cus now a lot of people's gangstas are on trial.

For example, Lil Reese recently was pictured in his prom outfit, indicating that he may well have graduated high school. :leostare:

There's gotta be some kind of formula, like grade completed and GPA x amount of cases you've caught, divided by years in the trap.

This isn't definitive enough for me.

What you're saying sounds good in theory. I'm just saying most starving artists trying to get on, aren't risking their future on that. nikkas is gonna front like a muthafukka :steviej:

Also, the thug image isn't the only act rappers exploit. Even with Kanye & J. Cole......Yeezy was normal at first but, has pretty much gone Hollywood now and J. Cole ran the fly college boy image into the ground, pretending that he was the biggest, baddest nikka to ever walk on campus. Sure :rudy:

Drake too. nikka made a career off of getting chicks wet when this nikka GOT NO KINDS of bytches in high school :russ: Seriously Aubrey? You wore this shyt breh.

drake-high-school-yearbook-young-red-carpet-2012-photo-split.jpg

Rappers front because if they didn't, their albums would be boring. Thus is life.

Drake had two things
1. Money
2. Guy changed a great deal during his highschool/college (young adult) years.
He didn't just conjure up Drizzy out of nowhere.

With that said I hate the "It's only entertainment" angle.
A rapper shouldn't have to completely and utterly fabricate EVERYTHING just to be appealing.

I think fiction is fine in doses but it can't work all the time, I mean would you dudes rock with it if Mac Miller and Asher Roth were suddenly moving bricks ?
Claiming hoods ? Wearing gang colors ?
I think a good deal of the dudes in this thread would call bullsh1t.

We're seeing other artists who don't have to bullsh1t for 60 minutes because they think it'll make them go plat, and those same artists are doing well in the market place, whether it's Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller or Hopsin.

Thats where your wrong people are buying that shyt. The greats are the ones that have something to say beyond the normal everyday ignorance you hear everybody else spewing.

correction.
It'll only last until the white KIDS who listen to him get sick of him.
Record Execs want his success to last as long as possible.

I think a lot of people are over thinking this.

If 2 Chainz really graduated with a 4.0, why does he go out of his way to sound less intelligent when he raps? Why did he start rapping poorly instead of parlaying that 4.0 and obvious intelligence into another career? Not everyone has that option open, he did, yet he chose to have a sub-par rap career.

At the very least it's :why:

Actually I'm from 30th and Charlotte in KC. The schools I went to (Central and Westport) were 90% black.

Stop playing dumb with me man, and get that race shyt outta here. He raps well below what the fukk you'd expect someone that graduated with a 4.0 to sound like. This would apply if he was white, black or green.

He could've parlayed that obvious intelligence into something more than being a subpar generic rapper with a mediocre career.

Y'all think southern rappers are slow but 2chainz understand the formula to be a mainstream rapper

Does 2chainz say he was a trapper?

If so.. the question is did 2chainz really trap and did he have to

Dude.. coming on a record and sounding intelligent as you can sound isn't a good hustle.

And also just because you use big words dont make u intelligent.

Juicy J and rappers like that have a lot of intelligent lines. You dont have to say something creative to say something intelligent.

Truthfully 2chainz is intelligent for mastering the mainstream right now.

That's what I'm saying though. He's obviously dumbed down who he is to be a rapper....which makes no sense because he didn't have to be a rapper.

And I'm not talking about big words. I'm talking about his music is generic as fukk, and his career ain't exactly setting the world on fire. So what is he gaining from all this?
