As a cac I have no beef with the casting. Human Torch is not a character that's defined by ethnic heritage so him being black or white doesn't mean a damn thing.

Been saying that for months now and I don't see why that's so hard to understand. Johnny could be any of us, he just so happens to be white. It doesn't change anything about his character or his relationship with the rest of the cast. He and Sue can still be related, and he can still be the pain in the butt hot head. Shyt really is a non issue and it's this whole anger behind being "accurate to the books" but last I checked, mostly everyone ( mostly) loves the Dark Knight so let's look at how accurate it is to the comics:

Joker paints his face instead of permawhite and he has scars instead of a painted smile
Rachel Dawes? Never heard of her in the comics
Two Face created because of Joker's machinations? Nope, also not in the comics.
Bruce wanting to not be Batman and looking for a way out? Nope, not true in the comics and not true to the character...but it's a dope movie and for the most part, it is true to the characters, while taking liberties where it makes sense to for the world Nolan created.

So you make them half brother/sister.

The Fantastic Four is a family but "family" doesn't have to be defined by blood or by skin color.

half brother/half sister nah, not for the intended audience (kids) for this movie. Especially this being a disney movie they don't want to send that message.

IMO I think they just needed to keep it the way it was.

Imagine superman being black or black panther being white

It's Fox breh, not Disney. And Black Panther was created specifically to be black, Johnny wasn't, that's the difference. Think about his background and then compare it to Johnny's and you tell me which one of them has to be black and which one doesn't. Superman was created at a time where having a black superhero was unheard of, along with Johnny and the rest of the fantastic four and plenty of superheroes during that era. Stan Lee wanted to make the X Men black at first since the whole impetus for the story was the civil rights movement but his editor told him :whoa:. That shyt didn't fly then

fukk fox. Out of all the franchises that marvel wants back this is probably the one they want the most. Avengers need Dr. Doom and Galactus. This is some straight faq shyt by Fox rushing this shyt out. I'm disgusted.

Black Panther needs to be black because that's what defines his character.

Superman doesn't NEED to be black but you'd be going up against 75 years of visual iconic-ism. Not only is he the most popular character in american fiction but everyone already associates the visual aesthetic of the character with being a white male.

i look at it this way. would you guys be pissed if Storm was played by a white haired white woman instead of halle berry? :mjpls:

as a black man, i would.... the only storm i know is of african descent and from New Yawk. it makes absolutely no sense to make johnny storm black..
