You type that, but have nothing to say about Nintendo.

Sony and Nintendo are still in the business of selling consoles. Until that changes they'll need some exclusive games in attempt to get people to purchase said console.

You can juelz all you want, but as you said, Xbox isn't trying to sell consoles like the other 2. It's an added benefit to their now expansive 3rd party catalogue.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, but it is what it is.
Nintendo doesn’t make AAA games and they make large profits off Hardware. Their business model is very different.

Sony needs to sell their games on other platforms to make worthwhile profit.

That’s the reality of it. Reality don’t sit right with yall because of the identity you built around “exclusives”

Don't argue with me. You can argue with the CEO since you know so much about Sony's "business model"

Just a couple weeks after he said this they announced they are dropping a non gaas game day one on switch :mjlol:
Substitute PC with Switch. Same thing

"but single player narrative games on Switch are designed to then entice Switch owners to play sequels on a PlayStation console"

AKA we're putting games on other platforms to sell more Playstations.

And the switch is generally for younger children who’s parents aren’t buying them PS5s and Xbox Series X.

Yes, there is some overlap, but the switch is advertised as a system for a younger subset of gamers
Mobile is the biggest market in gaming and there are a hell of a lot of mobile gamers that are never buying a dedicated gaming device.

In reality most of the Switch buyers of this Horizon game are likely also PS5 and PS4 owners who are just gonna buy this game on Switch instead of getting it on a Sony system for portability. A Horizon LEGO game isn’t a gateway for a person not into PlayStation to buy one and if you aren’t into Horizion do you really care about the game?

It took me a while to accept it but once you do the path forward is obvious. Sony isn’t satisfied with their game sales on their own hardware anymore. They’re actively seeking other avenues to grow sales because the truth is their total install base hasn’t really surpassed where it ended up on a system released over 2 decades ago.

It’s dubious if they’ll ever grow their system install base past that number again. There’s only so many people willing to buy these high end consoles and in those two decades that number hasn’t budged much.

Once you start seeking growth outside that platform because it stagnated you can end up with a situation where that potential customer base and its growth is a better opportunity than holding that content exclusively for your own even timed. You can hurt a game going viral by not having it available where more buyers are.

Which brings me back to the point of Sony not seeing Switch as a competitor. They're releasing there for profits, be it on Lego's end or PS. This is currently an outlier. A person might play this Lego game and decide to check out the other versions.

But to label this as "Sony is going 100% 3rd party is a reach".

It's an outlier. Might be Lego's call, might be Sony's call since it's essentially is a game for the younger generation. I'll concede when we start seeing mainline entries of Horizon, GoW, etc showing up on other consoles.

Until Sony quits the console market all together, they need exclusives. Same with Nintendo. There's no upside to buy PlayStation when they release everything everywhere as evidenced by Xbox.

Odd, I wasn't aware of any other PS games announced/released for Switch. By definition Lego Horizon would be an outlier

a person or thing that is atypical within a particular group, class, or category
