$15.00 an hour isn't a lot of money.

The world hasn’t changed that much man

2500 a month is enough to live off of. Even if you have to get a roommate (which everybody in ATL seems to have) it can be done.

But at the same time do you have kids? Child support? A cat I graduated high school with had 5 kids at 18 years old...he’d have to make 50k a year just to live a “normal” life so 15 an hour won’t EVER cut it, but that’s HIM not ME.

All of our situations are different like that.
You really think the economy has not changed since 2007?

And for the record, I'm not saying you can't live off it, I'm saying you will struggle. Why you keep attaching a roommate? That's obvious if two are living together.

we arent talking about generational wealth :what:

if you can't make it work off 32k a year (not including areas with extremely high cost of living) then you aren't making the right decisions with your money.

a single person with no kids or debt should be fine on that amount.

Generational wealth is important to note because your competition has it! How many ppl who make 32k can pass wealth down to the next gen?

Stop being closed minded and thinking life is as cut and dry as you say it to be.

While this is true. When you start making more you want to enjoy more things. You start to feel like you deserve certain things . Right or wrong..

Depends on the person.

I'd like to see proof of this.
Honestly, I would cite it but I read it in an article a couple years ago and was shocked myself. I’m a proud Floridian. It makes sense because Miami, South Florida in general, isn’t a representative of the entire the state and a huge portion of people down here are under the poverty line.

South still cheap as hell though. Comparatively speaking. You can live alone on 15 an hour down south. You not living by yourself in Cali on 15 an hour.
It is but you have places like Nashville and Charlotte, that were once cheap, charging 1200 plus for studios.. Quality of life is important too. As much as y'all talk about dating who the hell can live off 32k pay all bills utilities etc and be able to date in the U. S.??
Do y'all consider the stress and disappointment ppl who make that feel? Ppl in poverty overspend to compensate for lack of earnings. That's why the hood has liquor stores and beauty shops. It's called emotional spending...

Of course it’s chsnged, but that’s also why I said it hadn’t changed “that much” :pachaha:

Plus that was my first time mentioning a roommate in this discussion, you got me confused w somebody else.

We’re getting off topic: bottom line is 15/HR or 31k a year is plenty to cover the basics of living out here :manny:

10 years ago I had an apartment for
500 a month,
utilities were about 80 a month
Cell phone bill was about 80-90
Cable and Wi-Fi was about 100
No kids no car payment

Plus I was making about 2500 a month - do the math:manny:
10 years ago is how he begins an argument for 2017. Uses 2007 numbers.

I'm not doubting you read it somewhere, I'm doubting it being accurate. Incomes in Florida have gone down, I know, I frequent there a lot. But average salary in Florida for the most part is 40k a year, which is much higher than $15 an hour.
