$15.00 an hour isn't a lot of money.

$15 an hour only works if you are a minimalist, actually budget on the weekly basis, and make calculated purchases, which 90% of people making under 40k are not doing. Like the someone else said something like a date or weekend trip out of state to see family hits hard because it digs into that extra $200+ you have at the end of the month if you budgeted decent.

I am not an exception to the rule because I stupidly financed a $300/month car (which I am working hard to pay off before next summer). And I do love buying new gym gear + tailored clothes. But I get away with those because I cut my budget major in other areas where it counts like groceries, phone bill, internet, and luckily my health insurance premium is low. No Netflix, no fast food, restaurants, etc.

It's definitely not a long term solution though. Fixed expenses like the car note have to go and income ultimately has to go up because the rent/water/electricity,COL in general will too.

had a hood chick who was 31 - with a teenager - argue me up and down that a man shouldn't wear the same pair of shoes twice a week

and she stayed with her momma. and she DAMN SURE wasn't making 15 dollars an hour.

people out here are crazy and think they're normal.

Hood chicks are cute for a hot minute....have fun then RUN AWAY from those ladies :usure:

Nothing like a grown ass lady that got a 401K:blessed:

I made it off of 12/hr in Texas. But not long tho :whoa:

That was only enough money for bills and maybe a few extra things and that's it.

OP is one of those people that can spell and punctuate correctly but as soon as you process what he's saying you realize it's surface level dumb shyt

No it's not. Opponents of raising the?minimum wage to $15.00 act like it will destroy the economy. They make it seem like 15 is more than what it is.

When you pay someone $8.00 an hour they come in with one foot our of the door. You get what you pay for. I've worked at jobs where you have too many people on payroll making minimum wage and they all give subpar productivity. Even if you fire them it won't matter because the unemployment benefits is close to what they were getting paid in the first place.

Not to mention the government subsidized benefits like food stamps and rent stabilized housing people get. One of my employees lives in the hood paying $200 a month for rent and gets $400 a month in food stamps. She gets paid $12.00 an hour:mjpls:

Republicans don't want entitlements and increase spending but Republican (and Democrat) businesses don't want to increase their spending. You can't have it both ways.

And for people saying low skilled jobs shouldn't pay 15.... That's subjective. If people decided they don't want to work for 8 flipping burgers then fast food spots will have to raise the wages.

But again. People talk about $15 an hour like it's 40k and the year is 1987 and not 2017.

Just depends where you live.

$15 an hour in California is not the same as $15 an hour in Illinois.

In Compton you can get a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house, no basement and basically no yard for around $450,000

In Illinois you can get a two story house in a nice suburb, with 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and 1 half bathroom and a full basement and an attic for $175,000

But I agree $15 aint shyt

Most of y'all taking this literally and ain't digging deeper.

Yt ppl take home more than y'all think. Yes, it's yts working for $15 hr but understand the dynamics of generational wealth...

Sad that y'all think most of yt america lives in poverty, how our ppl do... They have land, wealth and human capital... Connections. Things they won't acknowledge to you.

If you making 15, don't find a second job, you'll only burn out. Instead, look into an automated hustle... The goal is to get paid by the least amount of effort.
It’s the Anglo way.

Money is an illusion. The more you have the more you spend. 15 an hour is good if you can save.. My boy make 13 an hr and got 12 bands in the bank saved.

Than i got another boy that make $17 and constantly have to borrow money cause he dont save shyt. Where u live is a big factor too.
