ruiz makes joshua move his feet a little more than he is used to. he makes him jab a little more than he is used to. he makes him think a little more than he is used to. i'll give you an example. heres ruiz throwing a right hand to the body and joshua doesnt know where to block.
he doesnt know where to block because he doesnt know where its going. to beat ruiz he has to be a little more switched on and a little more alert at all times. little mistakes like that one happen when he isnt. those add up.
ruiz doesnt fight three minute rounds. fighters like that can be outboxed. but you have to be switched on and alert to do it for twelve rounds. thats hard to do, and even harder to do, when the guy you are trying to outbox keeps wearing you down. i'll give you another example.
heres ruiz sticking his forearm in joshua's throat. that keeps the big man from leaning on you because the more he leans on you the more your forearm digs deeper into his throat. it keeps him honest. ruiz bumps him, gets a little space, and hits him.
theres no reason to get hit with those kinds of shots. take your glove and place it under his bicep and apply pressure.
when you apply pressure to that spot, he cant get extension and he cant hit you.
jack dempsey explains how to do that in his book. and it still does work.
i thought joshua hit a wall in the sixth. they said he lost cause he got concussed. a lot of guys get concussed. slowing down like he did in the sixth is a stamina problem. if he wants to beat ruiz he has to fix that. i dont know if he did. if he wants to beat ruiz he also has to stop ruiz from wearing him down - compounding that stamina problem - on the inside, and with all those body shots, for twelve rounds. no little mistakes. because those add up. i dont know if he can do that.
