The funniest part is to imagine if Dwight had resigned, this would have been brutal

Is it too crazy to think that Kobe had this in mind when he made that "pitch" to Dwight last year? What are the chances that they re-sign Howard AND bring Kobe back or bring him back at this price? :leon: Dwight took less money to get away while Chess Not Checkers Bryant just cashed out again. :dead:

Lakers had to take a pretty calculated risk. You could risk Bean just saying "fukk it" and retiring if was offered $10 million. The Lakers' business model would collapse at that point. Some of you forget that the Lakers had a 320 game sellout streak end this year mainly because Kobe was out. Unfortunately, with the new TV contract and the rabid fanbase, just turning off a revenue stream as big as Kobe is a non-starter.

This was just as much about the Lakers riding the wave and keeping money in there pockets as much as it was paying Kobe.

Awesome i'm cool with this. This will keep the team mediocre and unthreatening for the other West teams to deal with.

Its threads like these that separate the Kobe fans from the Laker fans.

Laker fans: Good for Kobe but I wish we could have got him cheaper. The organization had the leverage, bad move from management

Kobe fans: He deserves the entire cap, look at the money he brings in.

No concept of salary cap, just blind stanning :what:
