I see this unification as more of Ethiopia providing easier military assistance to the other members since their forces dwarfs the other countries by far.

I also find this group odd given Ethiopia's incursions into Somalia. The fact that Rwanda is training Burundian rebels and that Kenyan soldiers are running the finest money laundering scheme in East Africa out of their Somali occupation

:patrice:
Amisom is not that rogue and the mission is mostly ending/wrapping up. Amisom being evil is mostly an internet meme, Amisom are total boy scouts. humble guys. Its politicians from surrounding central/east african countries bringing their money. Its not all stolen in need of laundering, but some of it probably is. Especially elites from DRC, they've been investing hard.

Why yall hyping this up :mjlol:

Think countries with 70s Soviet military technology can be a legitimate military force breh

Call me a cac/c00n but yall know it’s true :francis:

Depends on the purpose....

Admittedly the only modern equipment is probably the Su-27 combat aircraft in Ethiopia and the T-72 tanks that South Sudan is getting from Russia (not sure if they ever got the first 33 which were on a boat Somali pirates captured before independence). However, I think if internal stability is the first focus, it could work if coordinated. In time they need to buy new stuff from Russia/China.

Are you freaking serious? Saudi Arabia can't even beat a unstable and broken Yemen(with the aid of other nations mind you) and you freaking expect them to EASILY beat the combined might of SEVEN countries????? Ethiopia alone is in the top 5 militaries in Africa, Ethiopia ALONE would give Egypt trouble and you think they would be able to take on a bunch of countries?? Egypt would suffer huge casualties and would back down due to exhausting resources. Same goes for Jordan(who is even less formidable than Egypt) and Israel(who does not even have the manpower to invade an entire region). Stop speaking on shyt you know little about. You dont just come off as a cac/c00n but a moron.
You Do realize Egypt, Jordan,Saudi Arabia were funded by the US and Euro nations for decades which means they have modern technology :russ:

For example, you say Ethiopia is top 5 military, how?? they Air Force has around 30 Soviet era fighter planes

Saudi Arabia has 70+ modern F16s,Eurofighters

It’s technology over manpower breh, who would win? 100 nikkas with machine guns or 1000 nikkas with bow & arrow?

True, I am hoping the British intervention in Sierra Leone before ECOWAS arrived is the last time that happens. And the Sierra Leonan government hired those SA mercenaries in Executive Outcomes. If we could get the Great Powers and mercs out of Africa I will be doing backflips.

The one thing ECOWAS pissed me off a bit on though was when the jihadists took Timbuktu and they were waiting around for the dry season to do anything. Then those nuts started moving south in Mali and the French ended up coming in.

I think the thing with ECOMOG is that: it was much more active when Nigeria had dictators since it was mostly a Nigerian thing - with help from Ghana and few other countries. However, with 'democracy' being around now, it's a tad difficult to act the way they used to act. Also, don't forget Nigeria, which is the real ECOMOG, has been fighting boko haram for a long time now and its military is already bogged down on many fronts, with how unstable the country is. So what happened in Timbuktu wasn't surprising.

Regardless, this looks good on paper. But if Ethiopia, Kenya, and Rwanda can take the lead since the trio have relatively decent armed forces compared to the rest of the continent. And they can learn from the mistakes of ECOMOG, which was mostly a Nigerian thing.
