Yes but what happens when the algorithms in these platforms favor far right extremist talking points? That is what is happening now. Its not just that these platforms are platforming extremist agendas, they have a bias towards it.

Also I strongly disagree. Racist and fascist ideals should be kept from being normalized at ALL costs. It should be ostracized at every opportunity, EVEN if it means censoring people. Not everyone's whacked out worldview is valid or worthy of being promulgate to millions of people. To maintain a healthy Democracy some voices have to be silenced no matter how counter intuitive that may seem.

Where we part ways is where you think people start to realize how stupid their ideas are. That's the myth of these 'free speech' claims.

People gravitate towards their own beliefs and plug into their echo chambers. Allowing hate speech on a platform will not stop incidents like this from happening. It will actually have the opposite effect, because you give it legitimacy.
