You can't retire of 1 million BUT that would be enough to pay off your debts, make your your children at least have a head start in life and you have enough left over to invest in business or the markets which ever you choose.
True but imagine what you can do with $1 billion.

I would continue working get my house and dedicate my entire check to my 401k for the next several years.

I wouldn't go to California though. Unless I've got crazy money I'm not moving.

yea but real estate goes up quicker here. vegas would be a good option since things are much cheaper there but that market is going to explode the wrong way one of these days

It's too damn expensive, I wish I could afford to live in Cali or Vegas though. If I become wealthy some day I'm spending at least 4 months a year in some of the two.
