Kenny being MIA for most of the year when NJ gives him everything is noticeable even for less hardcore fans. Guys like Tanahashi/Okada/Naito/Ishii literally work double the amount of matches this year than Kenny, and most of the matches Kenny works are shytty comedy matches where he openly wears "house show" tights. English commentary always pushes how the Japanese have accepted him as one of their own, yet those crowds cheer the other guy EVERY SINGLE MATCH he's had against a native talent this year. The corny ass Being The Elite and he and his buddies somehow running NJ :hhh:

If I wanted to watch The Elite get endless pushes and corn, I'd just watch ROH.

I never cared for Omega getting the belt. His 'legendary' feud with Okada felt forced as shyt after they had one awesome match together that got overhyped to the point Meltzer destroyed any legitimacy his star ratings still had.

Again, I understand were you are coming from breh, I'm on the same boat :heh: my question was not for you then.

I understand that point of view. But that is no the mentality people who are down on Kenny's reign had 6 months ago when he won.

My confusion is for the people that wanted or were interested in him getting the strap and are now dissappointed. Like, there's very little else that Omega could've done in these months, even if he showed up for every show it's not like he was going to be putting MOTYCs in random tag matches.
I was never for Omega getting the strap. It was forced, especially after using his as the flagship for the US title. I don’t think he’s the guy you center your business around. He’s a phenomenal worker who’s only priority is getting himself and his boys over with a handful of smark marks. When Okada had the belt there was a certain dignity he carried it with, it was the most important belt in the world or at least you felt like he felt that way.

This is my only gripe tbh, I know he won the belt right before the G1 but still, it feels like he's only had 3-4 defenses that I recall whereas it felt like Okada was defending that bytch every month.

I guess, I didn't think Okada felt as bigger champion than Tanahashi but I guess with time you just get used to it. I think the last time I felt like the champion was really special was when Mutoh returned, invaded and got the belt from Nakamura to eventually put over Tanahashi as the next Ace.

That's my thing though, that's not the case at all :pachaha:

Okada had 1 title defense in 2016 after the G1 (vs Marufuji at KOPW) and 1 title defense in 2017 after the G1 (vs EVIL at KOPW, he also had 1 vs Cody at the Long Beach show in July, before the tourney).

THAT'S IT :dead:

So I legit don't understand what's the fuzz is about Kenny not doing much with the title. I think the last dude who truly defended the belt monthly after July Okada in 2013. After that it's been mostly 1 title defense at KOPW, where the title might change hands, MAYBE a token defense before KOPW and then just wait till WK.

As I've said, I don't really care for Omega but all these complaints feel weird to me, like all of a sudden people expected something that was unrealistic to expect from him :manny:

Kenny takes off entire tours, it's not about defenses to me, he just straight up works less than half of what all the other top NJ guys work despite all the extra promotional stuff put on him as the face of Western expansion. That's pretty wild to me in and of itself. It's also...look at the other gaijin IWGP Champs. Vader. Hashimikov. Norton. Lesnar. Bob Sappu. AJ The GOAT Styles......Kenny Omega, the comedy guy from PWG/DDT?

Don't think he's really been 100% healthy since he won the belt in June. I know he had a fracture in his heel during that match with Cody Rhodes in July, and a fractured rib a couple months back.

He's never been a full time member of the roster though. I know Kenny was never a favorite or a top option for the belt a for some people in here (myself included) but I wasn't asking to those people :pachaha: And LMAO at Sapp and Lesnar.

ps: I can't believe I'm defending Omega this much :heh:

If nobody was complaining about AJ Styles defending the IWGP Title once in 5 months when he last won it, I can't understand why people are mad about Kenny defending it three times in 6.

Just say you don't like Kenny and be done with it.
AJ was also working Ring of Honor half the time.

The only person that dislikes Omega is @stro but he dislikes everything anyway.
