I see a lot of people saying this and/or being bummed out about his title reign. I honestly have no clue what they were expecting from it considering when he won the title :dwillhuh:
I for one think Omega is a great in-ring talent but he has no appeal whatsoever since with his shytty cartoonish promo's and always looking like a complete mark for himself. It also doesn't help his case that there's a bunch of equally talented wrestlers in NJPW who actually manage to exceed your expectations of them at any given time.

So yeah, putting the belt on Omega will never seem like anything more than one of many attempts to keep American Bullet Club Elite marks involved in the product. The same way the Young Bucks just get a spot in the tag title match after popping up completely heatless at the World Tag League Final, or Cody not doing anything with the US title belt for months and facing Juice Robinson again. In many ways these guys are all beyond their expiration date in NJPW if all they do is clog up spots that could be used by better talents.

I understand that point of view. But that is no the mentality people who are down on Kenny's reign had 6 months ago when he won.

My confusion is for the people that wanted or were interested in him getting the strap and are now dissappointed. Like, there's very little else that Omega could've done in these months, even if he showed up for every show it's not like he was going to be putting MOTYCs in random tag matches.

Yes, the main appeal was the storyline of finally being able to beat Okada for the strap, not so much people actually wanting Kenny to be the top champion in the company.

I never cared for Omega getting the belt. His 'legendary' feud with Okada felt forced as shyt after they had one awesome match together that got overhyped to the point Meltzer destroyed any legitimacy his star ratings still had.
