This is clearly the root of all this bytching.

Zoe Saldana playing token black Valley girl in a movie like "Clueless"? No problem.

A black revolutionary figure who's mental, life, and musical experiences were HEAVILY shaped by her physical features?

Like I said, you CLEARLY don't know Nina Simone as an artist so maybe you shouldn't speak on it.

Dudes like you would let Diggy Simmons play Tupac in a biopic and actually pay to see it. :russ: :dead:

This is clearly the root of all this bytching.

There are plenty of people who are bytching about that, but there are also folks who really do have a problem with the PHYSICAL features that Zoe has in-comparison to Nina Simone. In the thread, Zoe's "non-black-ness" was only mentioned one time. Her lacking physical features; numerous.

It's not difficult to pick an actor who looks & acts like someone. People would feel the same way if Will Smith was cast to play Martin Luther King Jr. People would be just as angry. Not because Will is a sell out, but because he looks nothing like him.

I understand that what an actor looks like doesn't bother you so much, as long as there acting is on point. There are many people who have problems watching a movie about someone they know and knowing that that "someone" does not resemble them at all. People are different. Let them / us vent.

What I meant by "non-blackness" had nothing to do with the actual color of her skin.

It had more to do with the fact that she's a bit white washed.

Basically the premise of this thread is along this line:

I don't get the hate that she is getting. People are upset that she isn't dark enough? Get a grip.

People are upset that her physical features are not like Nina's. There are a few who are upset that Zoe is a "c00n". That is not my and most of the threads argument (yet, at least).

Yea and I disagree. There's been plenty alluding to her "non blackness"

The story is made up too.

Honestly, there is so much money floating around black entertainers we could have our own Hollywood and not have to scramble around for parts or have our black icons misrepresented.

Perpetual consumers.
