Shoulda been Kimberly Elise. She can act laps around that safe negress.
This is a slap in the face.
Who approved this sellout,...
Oh yeah, the white people with the budget approved this sellout as Nina Simone.
This is bullshyt!!

I'll never understand why folks get carried away with an actor needing to look like the person they're portraying in a biopic. The quality of the acting is far more important.
I don't get the hate that she is getting. People are upset that she isn't dark enough? Get a grip.
Zoe Saldana like one of the 3 or 4 black actresses that make money....
If they don't want this shyt to flop then they would want to use her.

This.
Why not just let a white woman play Nina if it doesn't matter so much. The idea is to be immersed in the movie. If you know what the real Nina looks like, and you know what the real Zoe looks like...you won't get into the movie fully. Looks don't matter often when it comes to unknown protagonists, but when a movie is about someone as famous as Nina Simone, the actor should look like her. There are NO similar physical features that her and Zoe share. Shorty just looks like she fell in the mud and got a bad nose job.
I bet the movie will be about her falling in love with a white man. I'm willing to put some coli cash on that.

The shape of her cheek bones? ehh not so much.
This.

I don't know if the man is white or not, but it's apparently about an affair she carried on with her male nurse. However, according to Nina's own daughter, this nurse was gay, meaning that this "relationship" never occurred.
You're clearly not well versed in the artistry and life of Nina Simone.
Nina's not a just a person who made music. A lot of her music was shaped from her life experiences which were a result of her physical features.
I'm not seeing how a woman who doesn't even want to associate herself with "blackness" too much can or even begin to want to play this role.
