Kobe was once in a generation talent. Of course he was that good. I just don't think he's as good at 17 as R.J. is. Kobe at 23 could be much better than R.J. at 23. I don't know but at 17, R.J. is better to me. Defensively, clearly. Size wise, clearly. Skill wise, Kobe. Ability on all three levels, R.J. I think he's better. Athletically, R.J. at the same age as just as athletic as Kobe. Height wise, they look about the same. R.J. looks 6'6ish as does Kobe from my times seeing him in person.

Bennett was very good in HS. I don't see why he should be killed for that hot take. His failure is similar to Rey Sidney who just didn't have the passion for the game and ate his way out of Basketball. To make that comparison to Zion is foolish, even if Zion eats his way out like getting to 300-320, he's more like Rodney Rogers more than Bennett or Sidney.

Cam isn't the one I think is near Kobe. I think he's more advanced than McGrady at the same age. Not Kobe. R.J. is the one I think is generational special. Did you see Kobe, not did the sneaker companies see him, did you see him? I saw Kobe at that age. I saw that his handle was still WIP. His shooting was WIP but his competitiveness and his drive was elite. He kinda reminded me of Collin Sexton although Kobe was better than Sexton at the same age.

Are you high on Trae Young at the next level? I am not seeing it. I see Chris Jackson. I don't see the SG skills Steph had mastered at Davidson. I do think he's a great scorer but I don't see NBA superstardom. What do you see out of him at the next level?

Who do you scout for? A NBA team? Blog site? Regional scout for the sneaker companies?

I didn’t see Kobe live, but the people in the game gave me stories about him. Scouts/trainers/national analysts, AAU heads, etc. That Team Final team is arguably the greatest AAU team ever, and they said Kobe will be the best one of them all. Dwight Howard AAU team was stupid too with him, JR Smith, Lou Williams, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams. I’m actually missing some major names too for both teams. The games I’ve seen of Kobe were only taped footage, but his rep at Five Star/ and Nike were legendary. T-Mac too.

Trae Young to Chris Jackson is actually a great comparison. He was Steph before Steph. Chris Jackson was a bad boy before the anthem protest. He basically Kap’d himself before Kap did. Do I see superstardom? Truthfully I don’t know. I’m so baffled at what Markelle Fultz look like to Donovan Mitchell being a beast that I’m taking a break from projecting. Like Fultz is just blowing my mind, and he was the number 1 prospect during the entire USA trials. He was nasty.

I have a regular 9 to 5 but I’m also a NCAA D1 Certified Scout who also did some scouting work for the sneaker companies. I’m not their employee, but I’ve given them my opinions for certain kids.

I played v. That Atlanta Celtics squad. It wasn't like they could handle it and pressed all day. They had freak athletes and no one in HS could defend Randolph Morris. No one, not even Dwight. He was a poor man's Okafor but in HS, he was ultra rare. Dwayne Day was nice in HS. His BBIQ wasn't good. Javaris C was nice in HS, he was Penny without the crazy athletic ability. He was always a headache.

The GA stars with Lou Williams was nice as well. Very underrated.

I am telling you. It's hard to predict. Nothing from last season said Mitchell will be better on offense than Fultz. shyt happens man. That's why personality is so vital to scouting. That's why I am higher on Sexton than Young.

Steph really gets underrated by many scouts. He mastered the SG position. Most guys at his height never had a chance to develop that and did. Westbrook and Harden did too. That's why I think being an off guard in college is critical to excelling in the NBA as a scoring PG.

That Celtics team had 6'6 NBA pg who was 1st rounder
6'7 SG
6'8 Josh Smith
6'9 Dwight Howard
6'10 Randolph Morris

They killed most teams before the game started.

The issues with UNC and the OAD:

1. The Jordan and Dean mystique is gone. This generation didn't get to see Jordan play in real time or remember that UNC under Dean was the one school for producing NBA talent.

2. Roy hasn't fully embraced the OAD system, doesn't develop his players, and there's the perception that he holds his players back. Roy cost James Michael McAdoo and Harrison Barnes (to a lesser extent) millions of dollars when he advised them to stay in school for another year instead of going pro. JMM was projected top 10 pick and Barnes was a top 5 pick. JMM stayed two more years and ended up being a 2nd rd pick; Barnes was drafted 7th the next year. Some people said he should have told Marcus Paige to go pro after his sophomore year. I remember Julius Randle saying the reason he didn't go to UNC was because Roy played him as a just a post player.

3. The NCAA scandal steered top recruits away from UNC. Brandon Ingram said this was the reason he didn't go to UNC and suspect a few other didn't come for that reason as well.
issues? they just won the title :dead:

With help from a “one and done” recruit.
so what? what has kentucky with their revolving door every year? unc is a contender again this year, after 2 straight years in the title game, and is a buzzer beater away from likely back to back championships, and will contend again next year

I know that. I'm UNC fan myself. I'm talking Top 5-10 recruits not picking UNC over the last 5--6 years until this year. There was a list on the Scout board of players that Roy offered scholarship to and they went elsewhere.
but what does that matter? They contend without em. The goal of college programs is to win, what does some guy who was highly touted and went elsewhere matter if you win the title that year? You can’t get em all, and getting loads of em doesn’t guarantee anything. What’s it going to matter where Zion Williamson spent his 4 months hooping in college if they get beat by Arizona in the elite 8?

I was agreeing. There is no issues with UNC and recruiting. Roy has a system that works perfectly. Yeah he heavily recruited and missed on top freshman like Randle, Ingram, Knox, and Zion but it’s affected UNC none.

Still has a top scoring guard coming in and the best SF not committed to duke.

The thing I’ve noticed is the recruits don’t seem to be falling for Calipari’s bullshyt like they used to and Kentucky fans are losing it. The problem is they’ve just went from one bullshyt artist in Cal to another scumbag like K.
