It's ridiculous to believe in the notion that a team who's led by a cat who cosplays as O-Dog will somehow have the psychological advantage in a playoff environment, especially when this group has only won one series since he was drafted back in 19/20. He can barely play 60 games in a season, so I wouldn't be just assuming he'll be healthy enough to even make an extensive postseason run when the time comes.

For as good as folks believe Edey is, he still needs someone to get him the ball in the right spots, at the right time, and nobody on Memphis is really versed in utilizing a big like that. An issue which is only compounded by the fact that they don't have the shooters to measure out to the league-average, which is going to make spacing a problem, likely limiting his effectiveness and ultimately how much run he gets.

I'd also be worried about this team soon being on the precipice of splintering if they don't get results this season. Players like Bane and JJJ could grow tired of being in the shadows and end up wanting out.

Basically, cats need to slow their roll on this team before crowning them, especially before the season has even started.

The Memphis grizzlies did the scouting and roster positional management in thr off season to combat that dynamic.

I don't think anybody doubted Edey's offensive ability, thing we'll have to see is if he can close games defensively. I'm excited to see how it goes for him though, would love to see bigs brought back to traditional play instead of stretch bigs all the time.

That being said comparing him to Yao is a bit much. Yao shooting touch was crazy. Face ups drop step hooks with the left and right. Fade aways over either shoulder. Up and unders. Crazy footwork.

I did. Saying Memphis will be a tough opponent is not saying they'll dominate the playoffs, that kind of stuff has to be earned. But with Ja, JJJ, Bane and Edey, Clarke back, a good bench, we got a squad with potential, and optimism is reasonable.
