It’s not ageism, it’s the brand of basketball today. The big question is he mobile enough to not be a massive liability on defense? Nobody has questioned his offense

If I bang him on your undersized front court on offense.

Your undersized front court is not going.
to be able to physiologically respond.
being undersized long enough.
to be effective on either side of the ball,.... the whole ride.

That Japanese dude gonna be a fan favorite in Memphis

In terms of Edey, I don't know if he's gonna be a monster, but he'll be a decent contributor, The real test will be against players like Jokic, Wemby, Holmgren, maybe Sarr, Embiid, and etc.

It’s going to be fun to watch him on defense, everybody will try to pull him to the perimeter, nobody plays zone 100% of the time.

They can play ghost zone. With jj and edey being that top pedigree and fukk people up breh. Ain't no kobe in the league and the ghost zone properties.
stopped kobe for two finals series totaling a sweep and a seven game series.
Settled completely fr9m injuries of a lesser skilled big in Perkins. Plus a resistance to play sheed.
by goof ass doc rivers.
hating forwards and oversized guards L taking ass.

So good luck trying to stop this. With a coach who has a higher pedigreed back court. Plus a defensive minded scheme. Running at full strength. With two top flight front court defenders in jj and edey. Where they picking jj
to win dpoy and rival wemby For dpoy.
As well as a chance to further ramp gigi.

Nobody has the front line or parts in the west by pedigree. Plus the wolves made themselves weaker by trading Kat and not gobert. As well as edey being able to.
on paper provide opposition to jokic out west for starters.
while being a pedigreed experienced actual domestic player. Not a euro. So the ferocity is there. Plus most teams got weaker in front court depth this season league wide.

shyt spooky.
if you really paying attention.
to Memphis roster at full strength.

The hilariousness of this thread. Muh’fukkas already talking like Memphis is dominating the playoffs, and the season hasn’t even started. Some of y’all are far too predictable crashing out all because y’all got a big man to restore the feeling.

Yup. At the end of the day basketball is a man's game that's played 10 feet high.

Nobody wants to collide with that for a 7 game play-off series.

The rebounding front alone will be tremendous. Luke Kornet alone got a lot of minutes vs the Cavs' front court. You can at least force a bad match-up or neutralize a dominant front court. However, if you have the dominant front court the other team better be able to do something about it.

This.

The model for a successful nba team.
in general ahould still be: kC Jones coached celtics front court.

Chief : center
Michale : power forward
Bird : small forward

If you staff a front court similar in metrics. You are already playing a higher percentage brand of basketball. Than most in general legacy in the nba.

Except the game isn't played on paper.

It's ridiculous to believe in the notion that a team who's led by a cat who cosplays as O-Dog will somehow have the psychological advantage in a playoff environment, especially when this group has only won one series since he was drafted back in 19/20. He can barely play 60 games in a season, so I wouldn't be just assuming he'll be healthy enough to even make an extensive postseason run when the time comes.

For as good as folks believe Edey is, he still needs someone to get him the ball in the right spots, at the right time, and nobody on Memphis is really versed in utilizing a big like that. An issue which is only compounded by the fact that they don't have the shooters to measure out to the league-average, which is going to make spacing a problem, likely limiting his effectiveness and ultimately how much run he gets.

I'd also be worried about this team soon being on the precipice of splintering if they don't get results this season. Players like Bane and JJJ could grow tired of being in the shadows and end up wanting out.

Basically, cats need to slow their roll on this team before crowning them, especially before the season has even started.

We would have won gold if he suited up for canada.

Dude is legit
Naw.

But next Olympics is gonna be real spooky. I've been saying teams like Canada should be peaking at the right time, and if Edey can get 3-4 years of NBA experience to fit alongside this current group, Team USA will be fighting an uphill battle. The rest of the world is coming.

I already mentioned that they need shooters breh. I don't think they're a complete team.

Something like how Purdue ran their offense should be what they're going for - however getting Edey the ball based on the match-up, not as the centerpiece to the entire offense should be more of the direction. Memphis doesn't have the personnel for that yet. I still think they should go for an overall big lineup of shooters. Liam McNeeley next year for his BBIQ, shooting and passing would be great with Kennard and more of a two-way shooting/scoring PF. A lot of talent the next few drafts with big playmakers and shooters make for a great pairing with this guy.
